Activities & Events

The PTA organizes many important school events throughout the academic year. These include:

Welcome Back to School:

This event usually takes place, each semester, on the second Wednesday/Saturday after school reopens. The entire Roosevelt community is invited to picnic, play, welcome the new families to the campus and share with them helpful hints on adapting to their new life in Lima.

Open House Day: Held at the beginning of every semester, this event focuses on introducing new parents to Lima life, school events and addressing relocation issues wherever necessary.
Book Fair: This annual event, in Semester 1, is always eagerly anticipated by the FDR community. English books for all ages are sold in a chosen location on the school’s campus. Also on sale are books in other languages, self-help and parenthood titles, and a great second-hand table.
Halloween
Trunk o’ Treat:
Every October, FDR ́s little ones get over-excited for this event which takes place in the main parking lot of the campus.
Thanksgiving Lunch: The entire Roosevelt community is invited to share a meal in accordance with this annual American tradition.

Holiday Bazaar:

Near the end of the first semester a holiday bazaar is held on the Roosevelt campus and features the wonderful creations of local artisans, some of whom are students and parents of our school community. With a wide array of holiday gift items, vendors come from all over Lima and provinces to display their products for your purchasing pleasure! To provide energy whilst shopping, there is usually a small food court to refresh you.
Worker’s Christmas Gifts: At the FDR Workers’ annual holiday party, hosted by the school, PTA distributes hampers to the workers and toys to their children under 12.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Day: PTA receives generous donations of food and drinks from parents and serves a special lunch to our FDR staff to show them how much we care.
International Community Fest: We celebrate the end of the academic year with a grand festival which showcases the artist talent of our students and portrays our diversity through culinary delights. The entire community participates in exciting activities from our various FDR clubs on this fun-filled Saturday.
Volunteer Appreciation Brunch: To show our thanks for all the time and effort sacrificed by our parent helpers, PTA sponsors a lovely mid-morning meal and distributes small tokens of appreciation.

Additionally, the PTA organizes or supports:

  • New Student & Parent Orientations: One per semester.
  • Parent Ambassador Welcome Back Coffees: one per semester.
  • PTA Annual Assemblies: one per semester.
  • PTA Advisory Workshops for Grade Representatives & Homeroom Parent Volunteers: first semester.

Volunteer opportunities for all these PTA events are advertised via email, our PTA Facebook page ‘Colegio Roosevelt PTA’ and the Monday Messenger throughout the school year.
