Applicant Evaluation Descriptions

Applicant Evaluation Descriptions

Each school division follows its own evaluation process determined by their respective evaluation teams. Take note that in some instances, depending on complete submission of required documents, Colegio Roosevelt is able to offer space in advance of a student’s arrival in Lima. In those cases, a placement interview with the Counselor will be scheduled upon the applicant's arrival.

Early Childhood and Kindergarten (3-5 years old)
Elementary School (Grades 1-5)

All candidates will meet with an Elementary School Counselor for about 40 minutes (if necessary). The Counselor will conduct interviews in English in order to learn about the child’s reading and writing level, as well as his/her math skills. If the candidates’ first language is not English or has not studied in an international school environment for at least two years, he/she will be asked to come for a formal English interview which will take approximately 1 hour. The Spanish level will be also assessed to determine whether the student will be in the Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) Program or in the Official Peruvian Program (OPP).

Middle School (Grades 6-8) and High School (Grades 9-12)

Once the Admissions Office has received the completed application, admissions testing, and required documents, your child’s file will be sent to the Middle School or High School for review.

We may contact you or your child’s school for additional information at any time during the application process.

Applicants to grades 6-12 for whom English is not their native language will be required to take an English language proficiency exam, before the Committee can reach a decision.

Applicants will be required to take an Online Placement Instrument (OPI) test in the areas of English and Math.

Assessments can be initiated as soon as the application is received and while parents are collecting/sending required documents.

For applicants not in Lima during the time of application, a username and login to our Online Placement Test can be given to an official at your child’s current school.

If the OPI indicates challenges regarding the English or Math level of the applicant, we will coordinate another kind of assessment.

All admitted students will be required to take a placement test in Spanish (unless no previous knowledge).

Students entering grades 11-12 will take a placement test in Mathematics.
