There are two Learning Differences (LD) specialists in the middle school. For the LD specialists, it is important to work closely with the staff and identified students. The LD specialists provide professional guidance in the LD area to all middle school staff. The LD specialists also work with students who have been identified as having a learning difference and who may require additional assistance in specific academic areas.

The middle school LD program is a combination of the pull-out and inclusion models. The LD specialists provide support in the classroom and plan with those teachers in creating content-enhanced lessons. During classroom time, the LD specialists may work with individual LD students or in small groups. The LD specialists also pull out students individually or in small groups to work in the LD room, as needed. Lessons are then designed based on the content in the regular classroom and the goals and objectives designated by the individualized educational plan (IEP).
