CWW trips will be departing in two weeks! Permission slips are going home in the Monday Envelop on Oct 29th with 7th and 8th graders. This form asks for medical information. IT IS IMPORTANT TO FILL THIS OUT ACCURATELY. For some, insurance information has changed since you did online registration. For others, your child may have been diagnosed with an allergy or problem that teachers need to know. The emergency contact information you want for that week might be different than what you have listed for normal school days. Please take the time to fill it out carefully and return it by the end of the week. We MUST have the Permiso Notarial for each student, there are still some missing. Check the information packet or website for the packing list. Departure day is fast approaching and packing at the last minute is NOT advisable. Also, please be certain to arrive at FDR at the indicated time. VERY EARLY in the morning for all trips. Forms for grade 6 will go home on November 5th and are due in the next day to Ms Osterling, the math teacher.

YEARBOOKS from the 2003-04 and 2004-05 school years are on sale for $10 or S/ 30. If you would like one, send the money in with your child to the MS office. We also have some MS yearbooks from 2002-03, 2001-2002, 2000-01, 1999-2000 (small ones, just middle school) for $3 or S/ 9 each.
HALLOWEEN: Students are allowed to dress up for Halloween in Middle School. We will have a parade. Since it is on a Wednesday this year, however, many of the students have to bring their school uniform with them in order to change clothes before going off campus on a field trip. This applies to 8th graders going to PEBAL or Parque de la Imaginación.
GRADING: There are some families leaving in December for other schools. The big question on their minds is, “What will the school records look like with regards to this semester of MYP grading?” These students will receive a report that shows the final IB 1-7 grade for each subject as seen on the semester report card, as well as the criteria in each subject and the score awarded out of 10. The descriptor for that mark band (as seen in the handbook) will be included to describe that grade. There will also be the scale to show how the IB 1-7 would convert to A, B, C, D or F as used in previous years. This scale is:
7 |
Excellent |
A+ |
6 |
Very Good |
A |
5 |
Good |
B |
4 |
Satisfactory |
C |
3 |
Mediocre |
D |

F |

There will also be an Overall Average level of Attainment which is the average of all of the 1-7 grades. This is the grade used to determine honor roll status.

If you are moving in December, please notify Ms Marquez in the Registrar’s Office in early December so that we have time to prepare your records. Thank you for your understanding.
