SPONSORED RUN: On Wednesday, September 26, middle school students and teachers participated in the fifth annual Sponsored Run. All runners have been sponsored by friends and family. The students are now busy collecting the money that each sponsor pledged per laps run. A portion of the money collected will be used during the CWW trips when each grade level visits the organization that they sponsor. The sixth graders sponsor an orphanage in Cuzco, the seventh graders sponsor two schools in the jungle, and eighth grade sponsors an orphanage in Trujillo. Please help our students meet their goal by making good on all promised pledges.
IOWA TESTS: This week of October 1 – 5 all middle school students will be taking a battery of standardized tests, Iowa Test of Basic Skills. The test battery includes basic math skills, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, etc. Please make sure that your child has an especially good night’s rest all that week and has a substantial breakfast every morning so that they are focused and have the energy to successfully complete the tests. The results of the tests, which will be available next semester, allow us to see the growth in these skills when compared to last year’s test scores.
STUDENT LED CONFERENCES: Just a reminder that student led conferences take place October 1 – 5. Please arrive in plenty of time to pick up the report card and meet with the elective teachers before your appointment time with the core teachers. Students will be dismissed at 12:20 the whole week.
CWW TRIPS: On Monday, September 24, all students took home an informational packet and on Tuesday, September 25, grade level meetings were held for parents about the CWW trips. Remember that payment can be made on October 1 and 2 in the Roosevelt Room. Also, the notary will be on campus October 1 – 5 for parents interested in obtaining the “permiso notarial” required by Peruvian law for minors traveling unaccompanied by parents. Please remember to bring a copy of the student’s birth certificate and a copy of your legal document along with the originals.
FIRST AID TRAINING: ON WEDNESDAY, September 26, all middle school teachers took a course in first aid training and CPR. Parents can rest assure that all teachers have the knowledge to handle medical emergencies in school and on field trips around Lima and during the CWW trips.
