STUDENT LED CONFERENCES:  Last Monday, September 17, parents received an appointment for student led conferences. Please make sure that you have RSVP’d so the schedule can be finalized.

BOOK FAIR:  All middle school students will be attending the PTA Book Fair on Monday through Wednesday, September 24 – 26.  There are many books available, both new and used, age appropriate for middle school students.  Prices range from S/2 to S/20.

SPONSORED RUN:  This Wednesday, September 27, all middle school students and many teachers will be participating in the sponsored run.  Students have been busy for the past two weeks getting people to sponsor them for each lap they run.  The proceeds of the sponsored run are then used to fund our community service projects here in Lima and during the CWW trips.  Please help us make this year as successful as in the past by sponsoring your child.

IOWA TESTS:  The week of October 1 – 5 all middle school students will be taking a battery of standardized tests, Iowa Test of Basic Skills.  The test battery includes basic math skills, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, etc.  Please make sure that your child has an especially good night’s rest all that week and has a substantial breakfast every morning so that they are focused and have the energy to successfully complete the tests. The results of the tests, which will be available next semester, allow us to see the growth in these skills when compared to last year’s test scores.

CWW MEETING:  On Monday, September 24 all middle school students will receive an informational packet for the CWW trips that will be taking place November 12 – 16.  In the three years of middle school students have the opportunity to experience the three regions of Peru: coast, jungle, and mountains. The sixth grade travels to Cusco, seventh grade to Iquitos and then off to primary rainforest, and the eighth grade to Trujillo and Chiclayo. These trips not only integrate academics but also encourage the development of life and social skills, such as responsibility, appropriate social actions, caring, etc.

Then on Tuesday, September 25, there will be a general parent meeting at 11:00 a.m. in the Little Theater.  Information that is common to all three groups will be given first and then, the group will be divided into grade levels to answer questions for specific trips.  Please bring your pamphlet with you to the meeting!
