BANDS AND ORCHESTRA: Our students under the direction of Ms Anne Cochenour performed twice last Tuesday. There was an assembly during the day for grades 5-8 and a concert in the evening for family and friends. They are all to be congratulated for a job well done. For the Beginning Band students it was the first times they performed in public and they played with enthusiasm and confidence.
SHOES: Summer is coming and once it does the local stores will be stocked with thousands of pairs of all black shoes. Please take the opportunity to find ALL BLACK shoes for second semester. Not mostly black, all black. It might have been difficult to find them in August, but February will be different. Students are allowed to wear sandals until Easter break – but they must be ALL BLACK and must be securely fastened to the foot – they need a strap at the back.
CALCULATORS: If you are going to the U.S. in January or February or know someone else who is, you should consider picking up a graphing calculator TI-83 or TI-84 (Texas Instrument). If your child is in grade 8 they definitely need one in grades 9-12. If your child is in grade 7 they will need one at times for homework. In grade 8 we have a classroom set for students to use in class so that it is not necessary for them to bring the calculator to school. If you have questions about the calculator please contact Mr. Gould bgould@amersol.edu.pe or Ms. Freeburn kfreebur@amersol.edu.pe The PTA has a few calculators for rent also.
OVERDUES: All materials were due in to the Media Center on December 5th. I sent emails to parents of students with outstanding books and we now have only 2 6th graders, 2 7th graders, and 1 8th grader with outstanding library books. Textbooks are due in next week.. Report cards will be handed out at the end of school (12:20) on December 22nd. The Middle School Office will not reopen after that day until February 5, 2007.
SECOND SEMESTER begins on February 27th at 8:00. Students should be here before 8:00 in order to pick up their second semester schedule from the tables in front of the office. Students should be in uniform. They may wear sandals, but whatever footwear they have must be ALL BLACK. They will need to bring binders, folders, and other school supplies with them and be ready to work that day.
HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER BREAK. Watch the weekly Update and your email for information on grade level or school-wide coffees for opportunities to meet the parents of your child’s classmates as well as learn more about our program. Enjoy the warmth and sun if you stay in Peru or go to some other similar destination. And if you are headed for colder weather – enjoy it while you can. The hot weather awaits us upon our return. To Ms Reseigh who is returning to Colorado – we will miss you. To all students who are leaving FDR good luck in your new schools and keep in touch.
AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
