SPANISH PLAY: El Avaro (The Miser) by Moliere is being performed in a modern adaptation by the Middle School Club de Teatro. Performances are November 29th and 30th at 7:30 p.m.  The donation is S/ 5 and will go to PEBAL and to a house-building project in Pueblos Jóvenes.

PARENTS PLEASE HELP US OUT:  We currently have 37 6th graders, 51 7th graders and 57 8th graders with overdue library books.  Some of these were due in August or September. When students keep library books out longer than the due date it keeps others from checking out that book.  Also, if students have a book for months they often lose track of it and when report card time comes they have to pay for the missing book.  Please ask your child to check through the lists posted here at school, find the missing book, and turn it in to the library soon.  Thank you.

We hope to see all parents at the next 8th grade coffee on Thursday, December 7th from 8 am until 10am in the Little Theater. We will be addressing two important issues: registering for high school classes and how to help your child resolve conflict. Counselors will be present to give you valuable information regarding how your child should choose next year's courses in terms of requirements for graduation as well as appropriate levels. Furthermore, counselors will provide you with helpful tips on how to assist your 8th grader in being able to work out both social and academic disagreements.

REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

COURSE REQUESTS FOR 2007-2008: As we plan for the 2007-2008 school year, we need to know student elective choices in order to help us have the correct staff in place.  To do this, we will be asking students to choose electives before the end of the semester. We will base our schedule on those choices.  It will be possible for students to make changes later if there is space available.

Students take either one year-long elective or two semester electives.  Students will receive the registration form and description of the electives as noted in the above calendar. They will take the form home and discuss the choices with their parents.  After recording the choices parents need to sign the form.  The students will then input the information into the computer under the supervision of the counselors during ATL time.  Changes after that time must be requested by parents by email, letter or phone call to the appropriate counselor.

ACEPTA - We have scheduled 4 hours of Acepta drug and alcohol workshops for all middle school students.  During this time, students will receive valuable information about these topics, including how to handle themselves when put in the position of temptation.  The ACEPTA Drug and Alcohol program is coming in on December 5th at 7:00 pm sharp to help parents prepare for the summer challenges.  This meeting will be held in the Little Theater.  We hope to see you there.

DECEMBER 22ND is the last day of the semester and the day we will be distributing report cards.  This year there will be graded assignments and tests through Thursday December 21st.  Please remember that students leaving for vacation early have an unexcused absence which means a 0 on work not completed before they leave.  Please plan accordingly.
