REC NIGHT ON OCTOBER 31ST:  There will be a Rec Night on Halloween night.  It is from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. Students may not leave before 10:30 unless picked up by a parent.  Students may want to leave and go “trick or treating”. We do not know that they have your permission to do so.  We assume that you expect that they are here inside the campus from 7:30 – 10:30. We are concerned for their safety. Please understand that we will not release them to a driver until 10:30. Thank you for understanding.

8th GRADE JUNGLE PHOTOS ON LINE –  You can now view photos from our 8th grade recent trip to Iquitos. Students are encouraged to bring their photos to add to this page.

ASSEMBLY OF DIVERSITY AND UNITY:  On Tuesday there was an assembly at lunch time. To quote Mr. Bradley’s opening words: “Today we have assembled in a spirit of friendship, solidarity, love and unity. Our assembly brings together at least 7 major world religions: Buddhists, Catholics, Jews, Hindus, Mormons, Muslims and Protestants. We celebrate and are thankful for our diversity of beliefs and the 30 plus nationalities that make Roosevelt the great community that it is – diversity truly is a precious gift of creation that is to be treasured and looked after.

Our thoughts now turn towards those within our community who at this time are sick, in pain, mourning or convalescing.

Manolo and Richard Olivera have a special place in our hearts and are well known to most; there will be many other people you know about, perhaps in your family or home, perhaps they are here in Lima or far away in other countries, and as we hear prayers and as we pause for a moment of silence towards the end of our meeting you can bring them forward in the silence of your own hearts or minds.”

This assembly started as an idea of two staff members. It was planned an organized by an multi-faith multi cultural committee of mothers: Carmen Scamarone, Melanie Floyd, Thanaa Fayed, Lucía Grados, Elizabeth Bae, Ruby Mirpuri, Graciela Tenorio, and Fanny Schweig. Participating in the assembly were: Marilyn Holladay, Philip Bradley, Pilar  Galleno, David Munro, Alex Carcasi (son of Manolo), Cliff Olivera (son of Richard), Luciana Farah, Martha Farrell, Martin Aleson, Maggie Schweig, Reem Fayed, Christian Grados, Jae Beom Bae, Suchi Kumar, and Joaquin Ormeño. Ryan Ashley and Alice Bae wrote pieces for the assembly but were unable to be there and they were read by others.

It was a heartwarming outpouring of support for our friends.
