SPONSORED RUN: The Sponsored Run, our annual major fund raiser for middle school community service, was a huge success. The students ran many laps and will now collect the money pledged by their sponsors. The weather was cooperative and students were able to run lap after lap. Thanks go out to the PTA mothers who were there to help with distributing juice and cheering students on and to those who donated prizes for the raffle to be held next week for all students who turn in their money by Wednesday. You can see pictures here:   http://fdr-web/ms/news/index.asp

PERMISOS: During conferences week, October 9-13 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm we will have a notary in the Middle School to do Permisos Notariales for the 7th grade Iquitos and 6th grade Cusco trips.  This is necessary for ALL students who are travelling. There is a law on the books allowing children of diplomats and some others to travel without this, we need one for each student because we are NOT taking student passports with us to prove which ones do not need the Permiso.  The Permiso is turned in with the ticket to get the boarding pass. We do not show ID of any kind and the student is not present at the time this is done.  You need to bring the original and a copy of your DNI, CE or passport and a copy of your child's birth certificate. One parent may do this. If you have the Permiso done somewhere else, please send it to school no later than October  13th.

CAMERAS: There will be packages of 3 disposable cameras and a fan available for sale at Parent Teacher Conferences the week of October 9-13 for those who are interested.

SEATBELTS ON THE BUSES:  Seatbelts have been installed in our school buses.  It is REQUIRED that all riders use them from the time they get on the bus until the bus comes to a complete stop at their destination.  The drivers and adults on the buses will report those who do not follow this requirement and we will also be reviewing videos.  Please talk to your child about this important safety issue. Also, remind them that it is law that all passengers in a car use a seatbelt – even those in the back seat.

NAMES IN CLOTHING:  We are starting our semi-annual campaign to check clothing for names.  Please put your child’s name into clothing, especially PE clothes and jackets and vests.  Please do so as well in the lunch boxes. We will begin checking beginning the first week of October.  It is not acceptable for a student to borrow someone else’s PE clothes without asking first. If PE teachers find students wearing clothing with someone else’s name in it will be investigated as possible theft.  Please help us out by getting names in clothing. Thank you.
