Moving On Ceremony for 8th graders – families invited |
CoFo Presentations: Thursday and Friday the 8th graders gave their presentations for classmates and parents. They did an excellent job. Many of the projects were different than we had seen before. The students articulated very well what they had done, how they had done it, and what they learned from the experience. They were trying to do something which would be sustainable after they were no longer directly involved. Well done students. Thank you to the mentors (mostly parents) and to the teacher advisors who guided the students through this process. It was a great deal of hard work by all involved, but, hopefully, the benefits far outweighed the efforts.
Kermesse: Thank you to all of the parents who helped out with the Middle School booth as well as other areas at the Kermesse. This is a day that is fun for the thousands who attend but it does not happen without hours of work put in by volunteers for months before the event. Congratulations on a job well done.
INTERNET SAFETY is the topic of our next parent coffee. Representatives from Microsoft will give two presentations for parents of children of all ages. Students are spending more and more time on the internet, much of it unsupervised. What are the dangers and what can you do as a parent to protect your child? Join us for the answers. We are offering this twice in the hopes that parents will be able to attend one or the other. There will be simultaneous translation.
OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS: We are approaching the end of the semester. There are lists posted on the office window and homeroom teachers have reminded students about overdue books. If books are not turned in by June 12 access to Power School will be turned off on June 15th. Please have your child look under the bed, in the backpack, and around the house for books that need to be returned.
REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS
YEARBOOKS: Don’t be disappointed. Order your yearbook now. Pay $40 at the cashier and give the name and grade level of the student to whom you want it delivered.
IT IS A BUSY TIME OF YEAR, I have indicated in the calendar above the various meetings and concerts which will occur over the next six weeks. We will give more information as the events draw closer, but please mark your calendars. As you can see, we will be having presentations about Internet Safety. The presenter will be from Microsoft and will give an accurate picture of what the dangers are that our students face when they go online and what parents can do to help protect their children.
THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS JUNE 28TH. If you are moving and want records for the student’s new school, please fill out a withdrawal form. Records will be given to students on June 28th. We are not able to give them out sooner since we have to wait for all grades to be in. Books and materials must be returned to the Media Center by June 12th. Textbooks are due by June 22nd. Students who do not turn in Media Center materials will have their access to PowerSchool denied on June 15th. Students who do not have textbooks in by June 22nd will have their access denied. Students will receive report cards on June 28th. If they have books or materials outstanding or owe fines to the Media Center the report card will be held. Report cards not picked up on June 28th may be picked up in the Middle School Office. School Offices will be closed July 4-15.
