CALENDAR:

Bravos for Our Students: Congratulations to sixth grader Andrea Franco who has been rehearsing diligently for her upcoming performance as Clara in the Lima Municipal Ballet’s Nutcracker. You can see the ballet starting on Dec. 4th at the Teatro Segura.  Sixth grader Lorenzo Masías and eighth grader Estuardo Masías have received the high honor of an invitation to compete in an international polo tournament held in Buenos Aires.

Parents are encouraged to communicate their child’s successes to Ms. Salem, Ms. Remy or Ms. Hebl, so we can publicly recognize outstanding accomplishments within the MS.

Safe and Appropriate Use of Technology: We are aware that students are increasingly using technology (Skype) and social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter) as a means of communication. We encourage parents to supervise students to make sure that that they are using proper “netiquette” and following security behaviors to avoid compromising their safety. MS Math: An informational session for parents will be presented on Dec. 9th. Based on responses from the parent survey, the presentation will include:

Understanding of MYP Math and FDR’s mission, values and beliefs

Student achievement data

Instructional practices in Math

Continuum of ES, MS and HS Math programs

Resources for parents and students

Students and parents can access online math resources via the MS math pages on Moodle: http://courses.amersol.edu.pe/course/category.php?id=3&perpage=20&page=2.

Parent may log in as a guest to their child’s Math class to view assignments and Connected Math resources, including video tutorials and online resources.

MS Parents’ Book Club: Girls will Be Girls and Raising Cain will be discussed at the next meeting, scheduled for March 17th. These titles will make great summer reading! Copies are available in the library or in the MS Office.

TECHNOLOGY SURVEY - The Technology Planning Team would like you opinion on the direction technology at FDR will be taking over the next few years.

After School Activities –

A quick note to remind parents, teachers and students that there will be no after school activities on Wednesday, November 25 Thanksgiving Holiday). This includes the cancellation of the FDR SWIM ACADEMY as well.  Please contact Steve Leboo with any questions.

As the semester nears the end, a review of the calendar:
-Middle School/Elementary school activities end on Friday, Dec. 11.
-High School activities end on Friday, December 4 (exams begin on December 11).
-ES after school activity exhibition is Monday, December 14 at 2:45pm sharp.
-FDR Elementary Gymnastics Festival is Saturday, December 12 from 9 am- noon.

FDR POOL:
Activities end December 11 (dec 4 for high school)
Adult swim ends December 21st.
Swim Academy ends December 22nd.
