Technology - Grade 6

MYP Year 1

Course description

Computers are just one of the 21st century tools children use today. In this course, 6th grade students will have an opportunity to build upon the knowledge and skills they attained in elementary school and improve their skills to a more advance level of technology use. This course is a project-based course that provides students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in these technology related areas; basic operations and concepts, productivity tools, social ethical and human issues in dealing with technology, technology communication tools, technology research tools, technology problem-solving and decision-making tools.

MYP Technology

All MS students at Colegio Roosevelt are MYP students.  Colegio Roosevelt has adopted an integrated technology program, so all students will learn technology in their subject area classes while doing cross-curricular projects.  Students enrolled in this course will deepen their knowledge and appreciation of technology for life, society and the environment.  They will learn skills and techniques to create quality products and/or solutions not only for this class, but for all their classes.  In sixth grade, students are introduced to the design cycle to help them create and evaluate products and solutions.  The design cycle consists of the following steps: Investigate, Design, Plan, Create and Evaluate.  Students are assessed on these different criterion and are also assessed on their Attitudes Toward Technology.

Students will be refining technology skills that they have already learned and will be learning new skills as we analyze our guiding question:

How can technology help save the environment?

This is a semester long course that will include (Units will be added as we start working on them)
