ANAR is a short term meaning Ayuda a Niños y Adolescentes en Riesgo which means helping kids and teenagers at risk. This is an organization dedicated to the protection of kids and teenagers’ rights. It was first created in Spain in 1970 and then spread to different countries around the world. After a 1995 investigation, the ANAR orphanage in Peru was created. These programs do not only offer food, shelter and clothing, but make education a priority, and show their care through love and concern for the girls. In order to make all of these provisions, ANAR counts with a discipline group composed of educators, social workers, psychologists and volunteer helpers. The orphanage we are working with currently has fifteen girls, from the ages of three to fifteen. It is directed by Lucha Aguirre, a wonderful, helpful person with a strong heart. This orphanage depends on donations and volunteers, which makes us part of the cycle. Unfortunately, 54% of the Peruvian population is poor and around 60% of them are children who are obligated to live a big part of their childhood in a low-economic area. 50,000 children in Peru are orphans and 50,000 children are at risk since they are exposed to many dangers w | |
