As stated in our solution statement one of the main problems we are trying to solve is to improve the quality of life in this orphanage. When we visited the site we got the opportunity to visit the rooms and the inside part of the center. We then realized that many of the girls in this place have suffered abandonment, have been neglected, abused and much more. Most of their time is spent inside a dull mustard yellow painted room, which makes this ambience seem depressing and unhappy. According to the research we have found, bright colors can affect the feelings and self-esteem of people. Finally, we concluded that by re-painting the walls in their rooms they will be able to feel happy and their self-esteem will increase. Also, to implement the quality of life we are planning on replacing most of their furniture and teaching them how to make cards for the purpose of having fun and being creative. We divided our action plan into three main parts, each contributing to our sustainable solution. The first part involved redecorating some of their common areas by painting and reupholstering. The second part involved providing necessary furnishings as said, specifically a table, chairs and shelves. And the third part was to create relationships with the girls, by interacting with them during card day, and getting to know them through the process.
