Before we could have done anything for the station and the community we had to know how, when, why, and what to do. To do so, we created a plan. To help the community we intended to educate the community of La Molina by printing out brochures and handing them out to the community so that they’d know about Fire Safety. At first, these brochures were going to be used as fund raisers where we would send them out and hope for them to give us some donations, nevertheless, we saw this wasn’t necessary and was time consuming. Next, our first plan on helping the station itself was to use all the funds we had raised for repairing their hydraulic equipment used for extrication, yet this was too expensive and unsustainable. The second plan we had for the station was buying gloves and helmet visors, but this could lead to ambition and jealousy between firefighters. Lastly, we came up with the idea of providing the firefighters with medical and entry supplies. This solution was sustainable and reachable. On the other hand, to raise funds we, first of all, contacted sponsors with a well written letter informing them about our project and asking for any donation they’d be willing to give. At the same time, we created a raffle and bought many prizes like digital cameras, a bicycle and much more. These raffle tickets were sold at S/. 5. Last but not least, we also used the sponsored run funds given to us by the school. We raised $4.582 and with this we are able to accomplish our goal.
