First, we decided that our project was going to be about “Environmental Action.” In order to complete our COFO project it was necessary for us to find a site. At first, we thought of working in Miraflores, but this district was already recycling and didn’t need our help for the moment. Our advisor advised us to work in a place called Manchay which is located in the district of Cieneguilla. We contacted the school manager to have our first meeting to get to know them, and introduce the problems they encountered due to human pollution. When we found out the problem, which was their burning the trash, we decided to investigate about ways to solve the problem, because they did not have recycling bins.

For this, we contacted Mr. Lemley; he is the head of our schools recycling system. He told us about the company that recycles in our school called Samaria. Later on, we had to investigate about CONAM (environmental organization), because we were planning to have a meeting with them. We found out that CONAM standed for: “Consejo Nacional del Medio Ambiente,” and, if we had a meeting with them, they could teach us some tips to make learning about recycling in Manchay interesting.
