44% of the Peruvian population is poor. That means that less than half of the population is poor but it is still a big amount. The hospital Loayaza sees 200 patients a week on the area of ophthalmology. 90% of the patients need glasses and 40% can’t afford glasses. Our first COFO plan was to build a classroom in a poor school. Another suggestion was to donate school materials to a poor school. But finally my group decided to donate glasses. This was a good solution because many patients will be able to see. An eye exam in the hospital costs an average of 8-9 soles. Most patients can afford that, but what most of them can’t afford is the medication the doctor prescribes them. We are donating the glasses so that as many patients as possible that cant afford glasses will be able to see. We hope our project grows into a huge campaign and that it ism known world wide.
