As we look back to all of our accomplishments the only feeling we have, as a group, is the satisfaction of knowing that we have made an important change in these kids’ life. Although we had many ups and downs during this project we were able to stay together and confront the conflicts that we had as a group. Throughout each session that we had with the children, many values were taught, not only to the kids, but also to each of us. Also, we learned more about the reality of life. In the fist part of investigate we looked for several problems and solutions that would help the site but we realized that we did not want to focus on constructing in the site, but on spending time with the children. So, we left our ideas about construction behind and focused in a solution that would be really important and would help the kids in a more direct way. We did not realize what the real problem in the site was until the end, and it was that of the low-selfesteem of the children. The second part of the process was planning and desining. We really enjoyed this part of the process because we looked for activities that would help the children in a fun way, but always focusing on their self-esteems. The third part was the creation of the project. This part of the process taught us the most, since nearly all of our learning was during each session with the kids on the site. We enjoyed a lot during these sessions with the kids, since we were able to create a long lasting bond with them and they made us realize what the reality of these kids’ live is and how to appreciate what is given to us daily. |
