All About me
What describes me best are the things that I like the most. Music, sports and food are some of these things. Music plays an important role in my life. In school, I´m part of the Symphonic Band in which I play the flute. Initially, it was hard to decide what instrument to play, but I don’t regret selecting the flute. As a band, we compete with other schools. This is very exciting! At home, I also like to play the piano. I take lessons twice a week and would like to learn some of the songs that are playing on the radio. Dancing is also one of my favorite things, not only at parties, but at my ballet lessons too. I have been taking ballet lessons since I was three years old and every year we have a recital for Christmas. Sports are also included in my daily life.
School

Being a student at FDR has a positive and a negative side to it which balance out, making it a wonderful school. One of the elements that makes going to FDR fun is the social life that you have. You get to meet new people and learn about different cultures through them, rather than just hang out with the same friends everyday. The method of teaching is also a wonderful characteristic Roosevelt has. Students learn at an early age the responsibility of making choices in a fun way. When we get older we also have to make decisions such as which classes to take. Another aspect that makes FDR special is the technology it offers. The tech lab always counts with the latest programs and softwares. We also have a large library which contains a wide variety of novels and reference books. Last but not least, what makes Roosevelt even better is the quality of teachers it has. These are well prepared and students know they can trust them, talk to them and at the same time respect them. All of these characteristics make our school fantastic and complete as well as entertaining. There is no perfect school and this is why FDR has some disadvantages too. One of the characteristics that affects students the most is the fact that some of the students´s parents travel for work, making the students have an unstable home. They make friends here and don´t want to leave them. Another difficulty students have to face, is all the responsibilities they have. They have to be strictly on time to every class, learn how to use lockers and locks quickly and also memorize the periods they will have each day.

Community

Volleyball is definitely my favorite sport, which I practice in and out of school. I’ve been playing for a local volleyball team called Sporting Cristal since January. Talking about food, my favorite dish are spaghettis and my favorite soda is Inca Kola, which is a Peruvian soda. It is yellow and some people that try it for the first time say it tastes a little bit like bubblegum. One of my favorite things to do in my free time is baking. I enjoy baking cookies and cakes. Music, sports and food have always been an important part of me. They say a lot about who I am.

...School

This is often a problem since the order in which the periods go seems to change every week. These advantages and disadvantages make everyday at Roosevelt an adventure. There are still some improvements that could be made to make FDR an even better school in many ways. One of the main projects the school should focus on is a cafeteria. That way students would have a better place to eat and relax. Another idea that should be developed is the one of having a swimming pool. The school has a great swimming team, which has to go to another gym in order to practice. Having a swimming pool would make our school more complete and would benefit our swimmers. Roosevelt would also be better off with a bigger and well equipped center stage. The school performs many plays throughout the academic year and we should have a better place to present them. Another nurse facility near middle school and high school would also help students in these grades since they have to walk all the way to elementary everytime they don’t feel well. All of these elements would make our school a better place to study and meet new friends. Roosevelt is already a wonderful school with advantages and disadvantages, but unique to each and everyone of its students.

All About my family
My family´s uniqueness makes it special and different from other families. One of the qualities that makes it exceptional is that its members were born and live in different parts of the world. On my mother´s side of the family, most of my relatives come from Bolivia. My grandparents were born there, but came to live in Peru for political reasons when they were young. My aunts from this side of the family were born here, in Peru, but now live in different parts of the United States. On my dad´s side of the family, everyone was born in Peru, but not everyone has lived in Lima all of their lives. My greatgrandmother was born in Arequipa and later on, decided to come to Lima. This is why, the rest of my family from this side of the family was born in Lima. I find that having relatives in different parts of the world is very convenient because when I visit their homelands I have somebody to stay with and show me around. Another element that makes my family incomparable to others is that it is very close and united. For example, at special celebrations, we always visit each other. On Sundays, we usually have lunch and spend time together. I adore having a united family because I always have somebody to rely on and help me when I need it. People always say that family is what is most important in life and these aspects of my own family make this statement very true.

The characteristics that Peru has make it a comfortable place to visit, in which you will immediately feel at home when arriving. This is due to the warmth the people in this country show. Peru is like a sea of smiles that has its arms open to anyone who comes its way. Its citizens are cultural people, which have ancestors that make up most of Peruvian history. My country is a historic and touristy nation that has an extraordinary background. It counts with many archeological sites across the country, that are open to tourists and archaeologists. Machu Picchu is one of the sites you shouldn’t miss while visiting Peru. The Incas used these ruins as a fortress and fortunately left most of them for us to see and learn more about. This archaeological site is located in Cusco, among others such as Sacsayhuaman, Ollantaytambo and Pisac which are open to the public. Another aspect that has made Peru famous around the world is its music. Festivals are one of the common ways by which people here express their happiness. Most of these festivals are made to praise God and to celebrate the cities’ anniversaries. The music, which accompanies the dances, is also an important element. The “Marinera” is a special dance that is typical of Peru. It can be danced with or without shoes or with a horse depending on what part of the country you are in. The Peruvian walking horse is also one of our trademarks. Their special way of walking and dancing to the “Marinera” makes them unique. These aspects make Peru a perfect place to visit, learn and have fun.
