All About me

Hi fellow students! I am Jessica, and I’m very pleased you are reading this. First of all it’s been my dream to meet someone across the world. Secondly I’ve always wanted a pen pal. I hope after you read about me you would like to be my pen pal.
The first thing you should know about me is I love animals. When I grow up I am going to be a vet and have three children, ten dogs, five horses, fifteen bearded dragons, and two cats. Even though I can’t see you, I know your mouths are dropped open with awe. What I don’t like is when people make fun of my glasses, but what I love is when people comment on my freckles.
My dogs, cat and lizards are very important to me. Let me tell you a story about my lizards…It was my eighth birthday, and I was so excited. I was allowed to pick any small animal. I picked a bearded dragon! I named it Little Dude. It was only a month old. I brought it home and it just laid in the cage. We thought it just needed time to get used to the cage, but three days later it was in the same spot. We took it back and in the morning. It was dead.
After that I got a new one. I named him Clide. This one was one month old also. After I got him I heard that the other one that died was born in a sick clutch. Clide lived for about a month and then got sick. We took him to the vet and they said he was getting dehydrated. They said to give him Gatorade. We did, but it didn’t help for long. One day he wasn’t looking good. When I came back from school he was shriveled up. I felt really sad. My mom got me a new one.
This time we got a teenager since we didn’t have any luck with babies. I named him Kenny. A little while later my cousin’s bearded dragon breeded with mine. About a month later a clutch came out. Out popped my baby lizard Millie. Now I still have both of my lizards… I know. I have tears in my eyes also, but it is a true story.
School and Community
Let me tell you about my cool school, Imperial Elementary. I’ve been going to this school for six years now. I’ve been here from kindergarten to fifth grade, and I have one more year, (sixth grade), until I go to a different school for Jr. High.

Imperial is a big school. The playground is fun to play on because we have a huge field and the boys and girls play football, soccer, and kickball on it. We also have a slide, swings and other equipment. Many of the upper grade girls just sit and talk about…you know, “stuff”. Lower graders (first-third grade) have recess three times a day, but we upper graders (fourth-sixth grade) only have it two times a day, (trust me, we complain). Everybody starts school at 8:15 and lower graders get out at 2:25, while upper graders get out at 2:35.
My family lives close to school so my mom makes us walk even thought I have a ton of books in my backpack. When we walk we always say good morning to the crossing guard who helps us cross the street safely. When I get to school my friends always greet me. Imperial is special to me because I have met a lot of my friends here. I have about a “gazillion” friends.

My family

I don’t just play with my lizards I also play sports. In fact I just learned how to surf this summer. I tried and tried and finally I stood up and rode the wave. You would never know how great I felt. If I’m not surfing I’m usually playing soccer. Every year I play a different position. The first year we just watch flies go by and pick dandelions. Now that I’m at my fifth year of soccer I have experienced the challenges of the game, but I’m still having fun. My other hobby is my friends. I’ll count them for you.
“One…Two….TH…” Oops. I lost my place. My friends and I always have sleepovers, and when we do we stay up and eat junk food all night. We gossip a lot. One challenge I face is keeping my mouth shut.
I’m also a big drama queen. Whenever I get hurt I pretend to cry. I interrupt my parents a lot. I always hold my mouth shut like I can’t stop talking.
Now you know about an American child. I’m just like you but from a different place. How many people get to talk to different continents? Not very many people. I am very excited to learn about different places. I hope you’ve enjoyed meeting me. I’m excited about meeting you.

I have a wonderful teacher this year. Her name is Mrs. Guiltinan. She is very funny and she makes us all laugh. She is also very pretty. Just recently our class won second place in the school fundraiser for which we got to have a Krispy Cream donut party. It was really good. We got Krispy Cream hats and some people even pretended they were selling hotdogs (because the hats resemble hotdog vender hats). My after school activity at the moment is, “Rock Our World” where I’m getting to know all of you guys! Mrs. McGuire is in charge of everything for “Rock Our World”.
Some of the special memories I have at Imperial are all my wonderful teachers and friends. I have had many unique experiences here such as the time when this boy blew raisins out of his nose, and the time bees flew around the lunch area so I ate lunch inside. No wonder I’ve never gotten stung by a bee before, I always run and hide! All of the fun projects and special events my teachers and school have done over the years. Although, the time I met my best friend Kelsey would probably be the most important to me. I really believe that no matter how many schools I go to Imperial will always be my favorite.

All About my family

Everyone has a family. I have a wonderful one. I’ll tell you the inside scoop. I know you will like them too. In my family I have a dad, mom, sister and of course myself. My dad is a hard worker. He is a land surveyor and he enjoys working with his hands. He works on many home projects and taught my sister how to weld. My dad helps me with my math a lot. It’s getting much harder. Some of my favorite times with my dad are going surfing together, wrestling, and joking together. He has a great sense of humor.
My mom keeps my sister and me healthy because she is a doctor. Unfortunately I have to eat the right foods (every day!) and she makes me have a flu shot. My mom always cheers me up when I’m sad, and she tries her best to help me with my feelings. My favorite times with my mom are when we go to plays together and cook together. We like to cook brownies and chocolate cookies. When we bake, we each take turns but my sister and I always fight over who gets to stir next. When we are done we take one to our dad because he is always hard at work in the garage.
My younger sister has helped me understand that you can’t have a sibling and not fight with her. Believe me! We fight at least 50 times a day. But we also have lots of fun, except when she makes me play Barbies with her. Volleyball is one of our favorite games. At night when our parents think we are asleep we are always laughing and gossiping together. At home my sister and I play on our scooters together and sometimes my sister and I videotape my lizards in poses. My sister likes to make cards for people a lot. I try to teach my sister to do things properly, but she never listens. I guess you could say we “almost” love each other.
I love it when our family has time together, especially when we go camping. Our favorite places to go are San Clemente and Doheny Beaches in our travel trailer. We always go to the beach if it’s not raining. We usually search for sand crabs and dig holes and then we play family games like cards and Dominos (I usually win). We also like to explore our country. We especially enjoyed seeing Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks.
Some of my favorite relatives are Granddaddy, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Grandpa, Grandma, and all my aunts, uncle and cousins. I go surfing with my uncle and cousins. My grandmother spoils me because she never says no. She watches me when my parents are at work.
I love my family. I hope you can see why.
Community
I live in Anaheim Hills, California. Anaheim is a big city and many people live here. It is part of Orange County in southern California.
Southern California has many wonderful things. Many people enjoy going to theme parks like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, California Adventure, and Sea World. Some people like to go to the beach on the weekend, especially in the summer, because it is hot, hot, HOT! Everyone globs on a gallon of sunscreen. I hate the feeling of it, but I do enjoy digging for sand crabs. There are many other places you can go too. As the saying goes, “Southern California is the only place that you can surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon.” California has the beach, the mountains, the deserts and the valleys.
Many of the teenage girls are happy. We have malls! In fact we have a ton of malls right in our area. The malls have some great things in them. Parks are spread all over our area as well so boys “just have” to buy a skateboard. Not to mention a lot of Band-Aids! Grocery stores are common so moms (or dads) can jump in their car and get the shopping done easily. Dads (and sometimes moms) love to turn on the TV to football, and kids like to throw a party that no one will ever forget…make sure to ask your mom first.
A community program that enjoy is soccer. Many other kids like to play soccer too. There are three types of soccer: recreational, signature and club. I also used to do Girl Scouts. We did community service and fun projects. Other kids enjoy different sports like football, basketball and softball. Since our weather is usually nice we can play sports all year long.
I think everybody in southern California loves their community, and so do I.
