IMPERIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

5 th Grade

All About me

Hi, my name is Hikari. I live in Anaheim, California and I am an 11 year-old 6th grader at Imperial Elementary. My favorite subject in school is history (social studies) and I play the flute in the school band. I can play the guitar and the violin too.
I am a Japanese girl who came to America for my dad’s business. I will go back to Japan some day (I wonder when it’s going to be) but I like America too. The American songs are my favorite. My favorite singer is Avril Lavine. I like pop songs and she is the best pop singer. The other singers that I like are No Doubt, Yellowcard, Kelly Clarkson, Ebinesance, etc…. I sometimes listen to them on weekends. I play with video games on Sunday other than listen to music.

School and Community
Hi my name is Hikari, and I am going to tell you about my school. My school’s name is Imperial Elementary. Imperial teaches kindergartner to sixth grade. Imperial is a very cool school; the best school I have been to in America.
I live about two miles away from Imperial and I get to school everyday by car. It would take me about three hours to get to Imperial by foot but only five minutes by car, so I’m really glad my family will drive me!
My class’s schedule usually goes about like this: In the morning we have Spelling for about one hour, Language Arts for about one hour and then recess for 15 minutes. After recess we have P.E. (physical education) for around 40 minutes and then we have Math for about an hour. After Math, it’s time for lunch! Lunch is at twelve o’ clock for the upper graders everyday. We come in from lunch at 12:40 and do Social Studies for about an hour and then we do science. At this point it is finally the end of the day and we get to go home to our moms and dads to do homework, play video games, or go to practice for sports. One thing that makes Imperial special is that we get out early on Wednesdays. Usually, we get out at 2:35, but on Wednesdays we get out at 1:20. We also have minimum days sometimes. Minimum days are when we get out at 12:30 because there are report cards due, parent/teacher conferences, or other special teacher days.
Parent/teacher conferences are when your teacher and your parent(s) talk about your grades and your behavior at school. My teacher is Mrs. Alford and my parent/teacher conference is coming up soon! I hope that I am doing well with my grades. Mrs. Alford the best teacher I have ever had in my life! She is funny and comforting. There are many teachers at Imperial who are funny, comforting, and reliable. I really love Imperial, it is a wonderful school.
Hopefully this helped to explain what happens at an American school!

My family

I can’t do any of these on Saturdays because I have a Japanese school on these days (so I won’t forget Japanese when in have to go back to Japan.)
I’ll tell you a description of my room. My walls are covered with posters of “The Prince of Tennis”, a comic, and I have about 187 comic books in my bookshelves. In the corners of my room, I have my bed on one side and a desk on another. My room is so small, plain, and dirty on the desk. There are still lots of things about me but it might take a little too much space so I will stop here.

I think Southern California is the best place to live in America. There are a lot of theme parks and malls. Malls are large shopping centers.
I live in a city named Anaheim. Anaheim has a lot more parks, trees, and grass areas then Los Angeles, a city most of you are probably more familiar with. Most of the houses in Anaheim are big and painted light colors like orange, pink, grey, and blue. There is also a TON of cars! There are a ton of cars everywhere you go in Southern California. There are Mitsubishis, Hondas, Fords, GMCs, Chevrolets, Saturns, and many other types. Trucks and big SUV’s are very popular.
One special thing about living in Southern California is that you can go to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and other theme parks as often as you want because they are so close. There are amazing rides in all of the theme parks, but I like Knott’s Berry Farm the best. One reason I like Knott’s Berry Farm better is because I’ve been to Disneyland too much lately and I have ridden most of the rides there several times. I have only been to Knott’s Berry Farm once. I went with my friends Natalie and Cianna we had a great time, it was very fun.
Another thing that I like about Southern California is that there are fast food restaurants everywhere. We have Carl’s Jr., McDonald’s, In and Out, Subway, KFC, Taco Bell, Del Taco and many more. There are so many that I can’t name all of them! They are all really good too!
Hopefully one day you will get to come to Southern California so you can experience what it’s like to live here.

All About my family
I live in a middle sized (maybe middle sized or smaller) orange house with my dad, mom, sister, and dog. First, I’ll tell you about my dad. My dad is 45 years old, he loves to go to game shops and show my sister and me all the games he wants. He works for YKK Inc. and he is the plant manager there. Next, I’ll tell you about my mom. She is a hard working 39 year old that does all the stuff around the house. She goes shopping for groceries very often. The food that she makes is really good. My mom can make …anything! (Maybe.)
Well, next is my sister. My sister’s name is Natsuki and she is so into hot guys, which I’m not that interested in. Her favorite animal is a panda and she says she wants to own one. (What a weird dream for a 15-year-old teen!). Natsuki loves to shop, which gets me really tired because she keeps on looking at the same places. After shopping with her, you’ll be the most tired person on earth. Now, a good thing about her is that she gives me stuff. A lot of unwanted stuff, but some things I need and am thankful for too. Anyways, she is really into cooking right now and she made a cake and soup for us that was pretty good. Natsuki said that the soup she made was now on her specialty list.
Finally, I’ll tell you about my precious little (Or should I say HUGE?) dog. His name is Micky and he is 3 years old. Micky is a golden retriever and boxer mix. He is so aggressive. He bit me twice on the face. Maybe that’s my fault though. Although he is aggressive, Micky’s a nice dog and coward sometimes. He is so scared of trucks and rattling blinds. That might be because we adopted him at Petsmart. Well, I guess that’s all for introducing my family.
