All About me
Hello everybody, this is Maral from the other side of our planet Earth! I find this project very interesting because I had never thought about talking to someone who lives so far away before. I’m glad that I have the opportunity to be involved with the “Rock Our World Project”, because when I grown up I would like to become a teacher and I know that I will want to share this wonderful experience with my students.
My name comes from the Armenian language and it means “deer”. My mom and dad came from the far away county of Armenia but I was born in United States.
Let me tell you about my pets. My oldest pet loves carrots… can you guess what type of animal he is? If you guessed a bunny, you were correct! I got my bunny when I was in the third grade. At the time I felt very lonely and wanted to have something to play with and take care of. My mom took me to the pet store and I got to pick out any looped eared rabbit that I wanted. Once I picked one out we got to take it to our house. It took him a few days to get used to his new home, but now he really likes it! At the time I also had a hamster. Unfortunately my new bunny and my hamster did not get to know each other very well because shortly after I got my bunny my poor hammy died! My brother and I were very sad. After a month had pasted my mom decided that we could buy a new hamster, so we went back to the pet store. We fell in love with two white and brown hamsters, and my mom said we could buy them both! Let’s go home cuties!

My Baptism

 
Let me tell you a secret, don’t tell this to my mom but Armenian Dance and even the language is very hard. But I am trying to learn it anyway. Every Saturday I got to a special school to learn how to read and write Armenian. I also learn about our native folk dances and how to perform them. Some times I get tired of Armenian School, and most of the time it interferes with my sports activities such as my soccer or basketball games. I am sure you know how hard it is to learn and become good at a new sport. That is how I felt about tennis at first but now I am getting much better. I really enjoy tennis now.
Sometimes I feel very special because I have two different groups of friends. I do a lot of fun activities with my friends from school and Girl Scouts and I also enjoy socializing with my Armenian friends.
All About my family
I have a family of four. I have a mom, a dad and a brother. I live with both of my parents in one household. The most important thing to our family would probably be our antiques. We got them when we went to different states and countries. We also enjoy having a grand family. When I’m with my family, we usually go to Vegas or to a theme park. Sometimes we get to see a movie all together but once every month we go out like a mother and daughter day or father-daughter day. We usually grab a bite to eat and then we go to the movies or to shop. If we get tired of the movies, then we go to the pet store and look at the pets. So now you know about me and my family.
 
 
School and Community

Hi my name is Maral. I’m in 5th grade. My school’s name is Imperial Elementary.
My mom and my brother usually take me to school in the morning in our wacky Scooby- Doo bus. I don’t live that far away from school, it would only take me about five to ten minutes to walk, but I like that I get a ride from my family!
My school is on a year around track. That means we go to school for 9 weeks and then we are off for three weeks. This happens four times over the course of the school year and then we have summer vacation for five weeks.
Our school is huge. On our playground we have small swings and big ones, a slide, four handball courts, seven basketball hoops, a kickball and baseball area and a huge football/soccer field.
My teacher is Ms. Ruiz., she is very thin, she has pretty brown hair and her eyes are brown.
Our 5th grade classroom has a very important assignment going on right now. We need to write about a chapter the teacher gives us. We are split into 7 groups. We read about it, then we write about it, and after we are done we will talk about it in a presentation to the rest of our class.
I participate in several different after school activities like soccer, art, tennis, and girl scouts. I am currently also working on my parts of the Rock Our World project and going to meetings every Tuesday after school.

 

 

 

Anaheim hills is a very nice place. I’m involved in a tennis- community center, where they have instructors that will give you tennis lessons. They also have a private swim club at the community center.
I think it is very special to live in southern California because there are cool beaches to swim in, and the theme parks are great. We have great museums and great classes we can take.
Our school offers chess, ceramics, a stamp club, and sometimes special projects such as, Rock Our World.
What makes our community so special is that we all have an important job which is, taking care of and keeping our earth clean. Now you know about my school and my community.
