All About me

My name is Carolina. I am hard of hearing. Because I have trouble hearing I have to use hearing aides. My hearing aides have an FM system with two positions. On FM only I can hear everybody and everything that is going on around me, and with the FM plus the microphone I can hear whoever is speaking on the microphone too.
Over break I had an operation on both of my legs. I still have a bruise left over from the operation. I have to sleep with braces on my legs. I use the braces in the morning and at night. I also use a special cable called a twister-cable, to help support my legs while I walk around during the day. I sleep with my leg braces on all night. When I swim I get to take the braces and twister-cable off and I don’t have to use anything on my legs. I don’t need to use my braces or my twister-cable when I’m taking a bath or shower either. Those are the only two times I don’t have to use braces or a twister-cable.
I also cannot see. I use a cane to walk around my school and at home. I use my fingers to read books in Braille. I can not read with my eyes. I can’t read printed words but I read a lot of Braille.

I like to read Braille. I also write in Braille. I do all of my homework in Braille.

Me

I use my fingers all day long. My fingers are really strong because I use them a lot to type in Braille and to read. Nobody has strong fingers like me. I like to have strong fingers because it’s fun.
I like to do my homework, as long as there is not too much of it! I do homework almost everyday. The first day that I had homework this year was a Saturday. Saturdays are the day I like to rest, but l did all of my homework for school anyway.

All About my family

My favorite thing to do with my daddy is to chase him. We have a lot of fun. I like to squish his tummy. I like to make him do abdominals. One time my daddy said, “It hurts, my tummy hurts!” I said, “Do abdominals daddy.”
My favorite thing to do with my mom is hug her. I give her lots of hugs. When she comes home I always say, “Mommy, Mommy!” and I give her a big hug. My mom goes to the gym. She likes to do exercises. When we eat she doesn’t give me carrots because I don’t like carrots. I don’t like string beans either. I don’t like broccoli.
My favorite thing to do with Megan is play. I like to play with Megan. Sometimes when I go outside I chase her. Megan talks a lot. I do not like when she talks a lot. Yesterday I told her, “Megan, I can talk a lot too!” Megan didn’t say anything! I like Megan a lot. She goes to the same school as I do; she is in the first grade. When we eat dinner we sit. Megan sings at the table too! My dad says, “Do not sing at the dinner table!” I tell her, “No singing at the table!”
Community

In my community I live close to school. I go to therapy. I do exercise. I run on a treadmill. The treadmill helps my legs. I stretch and I rotate my legs. I like to go to therapy because it is fun. I also go horseback riding. I trot on my horse. My horse’s name is Tasha. Horseback riding is fun. I give Tasha treats with my glove. I’m afraid that she will lick me so I give them to her with my glove. I like to feed Tasha, it is fun.
On Saturday we stay at home. On Sunday we go to church. I go out to eat on Sunday. Sometimes we go shopping for food. Every day I go to school. School is fun because I learn things. At school I work a lot. At recess I play. I go on the swings. It is fun.

School

I like to go to school because I learn things. My teacher’s name is Ms. Ruiz. I have a best friend whose name is Karlie. Karlie and I play at recess. I go on the swings. Yesterday her and I had a race. I beat Karlie. When the bell rings Karlie says good-bye to me as I go to math. When I get to math I say hi to my math teacher. My math teacher’s name is Mrs. Sheiber. She teaches me multiplication. When I am finished with math I go to Mrs. McGuire’s class room. After that I go to lunch. I eat lunch with Karlie. Then I play again on the swings. I do social studies. Sometimes I do science. And I go to P.E. with my P.E. teacher. Her name is Ms. Rene. Her and I do lots of things together. In the morning when the bell rings I go to class. Then I do my morning activity. We go over it. Then we read a story. This time we did not read. When it was my turn to read the story we read on Monday I read one paragraph of the story. It was called, Earthquake Terror.

It is about a boy and his younger sister. The boy was twelve years old and his sister was six. The boy’s name was Jonathan and his sister’s name was Abby. In the story there was a dog named Moose. He was the family’s dog. Jonathan called to his dog in the story. After the story was finished Ms. Ruiz told us to answer questions about it. And for homework I had to study. Because we were going to have a test. The test came on Friday. We had two tests. One was a spelling test and the other one was a reading test. In the reading test no one talked. In the spelling test no one talked. In tests you do not talk. When I’m in school I do not talk. At recess I talk to Karlie. I also play with another girl named Alisa. Alisa tickles me. I tickle back.
Today I woke up late. When I got to school I ran. I like to go to school. In Mrs. McGuire’s class I read a book called, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. It’s about a boy who’s name is Peter. He is a nine-year-old boy in fourth grade. His last name is Hatcher.
Ms. Rene plays ball with me. She throws it to me and I throw it back to her. She said that we’re going to ride a scooter. She said that I have to come with pants. For the scooter I have to sit in it.
