Diet: This type monkey eats fruits, seeds, nuts,
insects, eggs, small vertebrates and plants.
Predators: Jaguars and humans
are the monkey's predators.
Adaptations:
The spider monkey is diurnal and very agil in the trees. Normal movement
through trees is along the upper surfaces of limbs with tail arched over the
back, the tail is used as a fifth limb. They are able to grab objects
with single hand, foot, or tail alone. They rarely come down to the ground.
Interesting Facts:
1. The skin of the tale looks and feels like a hand.
2. They tend to live in groups of forty and fifty but they separate durind
the day.
3. They like to hang on their tail like spiders.
4. Baby spider monkey like to play wrestling while hanging on their tail.
5. The are found in the canopies were they are not disturbed.
6.Spider Monkeys are almost never alone, they usually stay with a group of
30 individuals.
