Red Eyed Tree Frog
By Kyle C
The Red Eyed Tree Frog is found in rain forests all over the world. It lives in the forest floor and the Under layer. As long as a key and as thick as an eraser the Red Eyed Tree Frog.
The Red Eyed Tree Frog is about 2-3 inches long. It is very color full with most of its body bright green and blue and yellow strips down the side of its belly. This frog has very power full back legs for jumping and its fingertips are like suction cups so it can land on slippery leaves. It can also climb up trees. This frog even has webbed feet for swimming. The Red Eyed Tree Frog has big red eyes so it can see in the dark to hunt.
The Red Eyed Tree Frog eats most insects like moths, flies, some small beetles, and mosquitoes. This frog pushes its food down its throughout with its eyes. The eyes go in to the head and push the food down. The interesting thing is that the adult frogs dont feed their young.
The Red Eyed Tree Frog dose not stay with their young because they just lay their eggs in the water and leaves them. The young hatch from the eggs and they are tadpoles in the water until they grow legs and loose their tail then they are frogs. The mating takes along time.
The male Red Eyed Tree Frog is on top of the female during mating. The female has the eggs between her legs. Then some of the eggs survive and die. The ones that die are eaten by fish.
The Red Eyed Tree Frog has enemies. Some of the enemies are birds, Caiman, and other small carnivores. The Red Eyed Tree Frog has ways to protect its self. This frog has camouflage. This makes it so this frog is not endangered.
The Red Eyed Tree Frog is a very interesting animal. The colors of this frog are unbelievable. This is my favorite animal because it is different from all the other animals in the rain forest.
