Scientific Name: Enjalioides
Spanish Name: Iguana
Size: Four to six ft.
Life span: They can live up to 25 years |
Diet:
The green iguana's diet consists mainly of small
leaves, flowers, and soft fruits. When they are young they eat young snails
and other insects. They drink water that pools and condenses on leaves
and flowers of bean plants, because the water has large doses of protein
in it.
Predators:
snakes, birds, cats and other large predators
Adaptations:
The Iguanas have long fingers and a long ttail
used to defend themselves from all predators. Their skin is very
water resistant, and avoids the many cuts and scraches. Their blending
skin helps them camouflage when predators are around. They can change
to the color of the background.
