Dear Mom and dad,
On Monday we went to Ollantaytambo, it was a very tiring climb and we have seen it already but it was fun anyway.
Yesterday, we went to Machu Picchu, it was almost the same tour as last time, but last time, they showed us more than what we saw this time.
Today, we are going to the salt mines, I think it will be a blast, even though I’ve been there before. We are also going to Moray, then we will walk to the Urubamba River. It should be fun.
Tomorrow, we are going to see our orphan friend, I can’t wait to see her!
I miss you sooooooo much. I can’t wait to see you on Friday!
love,
Rachel E.

Dear parents
As you said by going up it was difficult to breath. There were a temple, a sundial, and a huge broke rock which were houses. It was one of best part of the trip. I’m fine so don’t worry and we’ll be fine. I want to see you very much.
Your son
Kevin

Yesterday we went to Machu Picchu and it was really fun. Like you said there were a lot of precepieces. The stairs were gigantic. I got really agitated and it got hard to breath. We saw a lot of sacred temples to stone carved condors. If you don’t mind I took a lot of pictures of Machu Picchu. Like I said it was really fun.
Patricio W.

Hi momma and pappa,
I’m in Cusco having a lot of fun. I have just finished eating lunch and am headed to the hotel. How are you guys? I’m fine and am not having any trouble with the altitude. Well bye you guys.
Hee-Chae C.

Tomas B.

Today we are moving from hotel and up until now it’s been super fun. Yesterday we went to Machu Picchu and today we went to Maras and Moray and it was super windy! I’m excited because this trip was extremely fun and we get a lot of free time. Well, see you soon!
Daniella S.

Hola, hoy dia fuimos a Maras y Moray. No pudimos bajar a Maras porque estaba lloviendo y habia bastante viento. Mas tarde vamos a cambiar de hotel. Los veo en Lima.
Ernesto de L.

Mom & Dad –
Today I went to Moray and Maras Salt Mine. There was an Inti Raimi show. I learned haili meant viva. Then we went to a place and they told us about llamas and alpacas. The salt mine had so much wind I was afraid my camera would just go flying out of my hand. The trip is really fun. I really like extra time (free time) and it’s really fun. We get to do whatever we want. Today we are moving to a new hotel in Cusco.
Matthias De A. =D

Today I went to the Moray and saw dances from the Inca. Matthias and I, we were watching the beautiful show that they prepared for our school. Quecha was spoken in the show. It was fun. Moray was a laboratory of plants and that was a very important place. I also learned that llama is tall and can carry to 40 kilos. The alpaca is smaller but it is good to use its fur for knitting.
Yu-Li C.

We have just finished using the first hotel so were going to the second one. how have you been this days? I miss you. We visited Machu Picchu and Ollantaytambo, Maras and the salt mines. My roommates are Tomas and Augusto.

This trip is very exciting and I learned lots of new things. I learned that in some years Machu Pichu is going to disappear. The trip to Machu Picchu was very fun and exciting and a little tiring when you need to climb the stairs, but it was very fun. The breakfast is very good and the other foods also. We went to a train to go to Machu Pichu and to a very good restaurant. Until now it is very fun this trip and I wish it will be fun until Friday.

I am having a fun experience in Cusco. I am learning more things than last time. Ollantaytambo was fun,but I was tired when I had to climb all those stairs. The second day we went to Machu Picchu. I was feeling bad, but when I went with the nurse and I felt better so I went and I had to climb stairs that made me tired, but I thought it was beautiful. I wish I can go again to Machu Picchu.

Dear Mom and Dad,
When you left me at school, I boarded a bus with all my friends that took me to the airport. We took an airplane from 7:00 to 8:00 to get to Cuzco. I thought I would vomit when I would get out of the airplane but I was perfectly normal. After exiting the airport we went to a hotel called Royal Inca Pisac where we rested for acclimaton. In the afternoon we went to Ollantaytambo to see the unfinished temple of the sun. The next day I was very exited because I finaly got to Machu Picchu after 2 hours of train ride. I took 70 pictures of Maccu Piccu because it is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! Back in the hotel we ate dinner that was a buffet with lots of food. At this moment, while I am writing I am going to Moray and the Maras salt mines. I miss you very much.
Your son,
Luis

Hi mom right now it’s the third day and we are going to study geology. In the first day we went to Ollantaytambo were we went up the stairs when I was climbing it was kind of scary because it was very high. In the second day we went to Machu Picchu where I took many pictures. I miss you very much from your son,
Mauricio.

At first I did not want to come to Cusco but when I got here I had a lot of fun. My favorite place in Cusco is Machu Picchu. When I got there I could not believe how the ruins were. I had a lot of fun walking in Machu Pichu. Cusco is the best.

Hi Mom, Cusco has been an amazing experience, on the first day we went to Ollantaytambo it is a religious temple, it is really important because this site is one of the last cities that the incas constructed before the conquest of the Spanish people, I was amazed when I found out how intelligent the Incas where, they made there walls hooked out by each rock because when there was a tremor the temple wouldn’t fall down. On our second day we went to Machu Picchu a marvelous place that was discovered by Hiram Bingham on the 24 th of July in 1911, this city is really important because it’s the only place where you can find everything complete, today we are on our third day going to Maras and Moray I hope this place will be as fun and interesting as the other places we have visited!! I hope we can come together on another opportunity and learn more about Cusco.
Bye mom: Cayetana

This week we have learned a lot and we will still learn more because it is only the beginning of the third day. The first day we rested in the morning and found out who our roommates were and I think we were all happy with our rooms. Then we went to Ollantaytambo and had to go all the way to the top. Since it was only the first day every body as really tired. The next day we went to Machu Picchu and also had to climb to the top and I was almost dying, but I had a lot of fun and it was new experience that really showed us how hard it was for the Incas when they lived on those mountains. They really had hard working people. We have learned about the Incas and their ways of life. It was very interesting. Today we went to Moray and saw what the most important festival for the incas, would have been like. This festival was called the Inti Raimi. It was a religious festival for the sun and everybody went. It was important for us to experience this feast because it was very important for the Incas. Then we saw how the campesinos cooked their food in thew dirt. It was like pachamanca but instead of being in a hole in the ground it was on the surfase and covered with dirt and rocks. But in this trip we didn’t only learn but also had a lot of fun. In the rooms, the bus, the train ride to Machu Picchu, and even the ride on the plane to cusco. In Machu Picchu we took our group picture and it started raining. I wanted to get wet but decided to put on my rain poncho because I definitely did NOT want to get sick. Well I am having fun and I hope you are too. I miss you all,
Maria Jose.

In classroom without walls we have learned a lot of things and we will learn more things in the days e have left. In October 23 we arrived to school and went to the buses that took us to the airport. When we arrived to Cusco we went to the Hotel Royal Inka Pisac, unpacked and rested. Then we went to Ollantaytambo. we climbed and learned about how it was made. After we went to eat to a restaurant and then went back to the hotel and painted ceramics. Then we ate and celebrated Ms. Castaneda’s and Alfredo’s birthday. The second day we went to Machu-Pichu, we learned how it was made and why it was important. After that we went to eat to Ignacio’s dad and saw a power point of the spectacle bear. Then we went to the hotel to eat and then went to or rooms to pack our lougage. We still have lots of things to learn.

Hi mom and dad, Cusco has been an amazing experience for me and my friends. The first day we went to Ollantaytambo which is a religious temple. I learned that Incas used ramps to transport the granite stones to the top of the mountains where they where building a temple. The water was like a god for them because it was very important and they had a way to test it. The second day wew went to Machu Picchu where we took our grade picture and we also saw the ruins of the Incas. We learned that it was one of the few Inca sites that is intact and it was not discovered by Spanish. We also learned that Machu Picchu was discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham and he discovered 170 mommies which 120 where females. You can’t imagine the wonderful view. Today we went to Maras and Moray. In Moray they did a Inti Raimi festival where they acted like the Incas. We couldn’t see much in Maras because it was raining very hard but we went out of the bus to take pictures. I am having a great time!

Hi Mom and Dad,
Cusco is amazing!! The first day we got to the hotel and everyone was really nervous because they didn’t know with who they were going to sleep. My friends and I were really scared but at the end we ended up being happy. I slept with Caterina and Alexia. It was really fun because we all did dumb things that made us laughf a lot. After being in the hotel we went to eat lunch and then to the Ollantaytambo. The Ollantaytambo is a religious temple the Incas started building but they could never finish it. They never finished it because the Spanish came to conquer. The temple was built with granite stones. They got the granite stones from a mountain that was close and science they didn’t know the wheel the had to take the rocks by ramps. At night we went back to the hotel we ate and then went to our rooms to take a bath and to finish our homework. The next day we went to Machu Picchu.Until now I think Machu Picchu was the best. I liked it a lot because we went to different temples, we walked around, and we learned a lot about it. I also enjoyed it a lot because it was raining really hard and I love rain. After Machu Picchu we went to Paola’s and Ignacio’s restourant. It was really nice. We were going to go to watch a spectacle bear, but since it was raining with thounder the bears were going to hid, so we watched a slid show of the bears. Today we have gone to Moray and Maras. Moray was really cool because some people made a special show for us. The show was about the people from the Tahuantinsuyo. After that we went to a place were we saw how people made potatoes under the ground and then we sat on tables to taste them. When we finished I started raining really hard. When we got to Maras it was still raining so we couldn’t go to see the salt pools. We saw them but from a really high place were we stayed like 5 minutes. Right now we are going to go to the hotel to play and go to the pool and then we are going to a new hotels were maybe we will have to sleep with the same people or maybe we will change. I miss you a lot but I think this trip is going to help me be an independent person and learn things I will remember for my entire life.

Hi mom, hi dad!
I’m going to tell you what I’m doing in my Cusco trip. Cusco is really cool. We arrived to Cusco airport on Monday morning. Then, we went to our hotel:”Royal Inca Pisac”.

Our teachers told us our roommates and we went to our rooms to install our selfs. The hotel is really nice. After that,we went to a restaurant to eat before going to.Ollantaytambo.Ollantaytambo was one of the last Incan cities. We climbed the city with our guides. My squad guide is called Teddy. We returned to the hotel and we painted ceramics. Then, we went dinner and after that,we celebrated Ms.Castaneda’s and Alfredo’s birthday.

On the second day,we took a bus and a train to Machu Picchu. We walked all over the city it was amazing!!We went to Ignacio’s father’s hotel:”Inkaterra”. There, a man did a presentation about the spectacled bear. We returned to the hotel, we ate and we went to bed.

On the third day, we went to Moray were we saw the Inti Raymi festival. We also saw how “watia” was prepared. It’s like a “pachamanca” but with potato. Then we ate them with huancaina sauce. After that,we visited the Maras salt mines. We ate in another hotel, we returned to the hotel and we played. Now,we are moving to another hotel in Cusco. In the way,we stoped in a farm and we saw alpacas, llamas, guanacos and vicunas. We also saw how the artisans paint the clothes that they fabricate. Today we are going to see a movie and to do our cheers and skits It’s going to be great! That is what I’m doing in my Cusco trip. Tomorrow, we are going to visit an orphanage and more archeological sites. I can’t wait to go to the orphanage and talk to my writing partner. I’m really having fun in this trip! I think that it’s going to be a really good experience and I have a lot of things to tell you when I come back.
