Imagine classrooms without walls, where students are able to attend their classes 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Imagine a nearly limitless selection of courses - courses that are innovative and technologically rich, courses that are in the areas of core academics, technology, courses for language minorities. Imagine students working cooperatively online with others from a wide variety of different ages, ethnicities, backgrounds and geographic locations.

This could be you, in a VHS class!

What you are beginning to imagine is the reality of the Virtual High School (VHS) and the University of Miami Online High School (UMOHS).

Colegio Roosevelt is starting its 3rd year as a member of VHS and can enroll 20students per semester starting August 2004. We are pleased to announce that we are also part of a pilot project with UMOHS and will be enrolling 6 students in their classes To be eligible to take a VHS course, students must fall under one of the following criteria:

1. *FDR is unable to fit a course in their schedule and the student needs a VHS course to fill their timetable to ensure they graduate with all required credits. *

2. The student would like to take a course that is not offered by FDR.

3. The student needs to make up a course that they have failed.

The cost of enrollment is $150.00/semester, $250 for the year.

* In the event that the FDR High School schedule cannot accommodate a student’s request for a required course, and that the student must take a VHS course in order to meet graduation requirements, Colegio Roosevelt will assume the cost of the VHS course. In all other cases, the student will pay the cost of the course. VHS – VIRTUAL HIGH SCHOOL 1st and/or 2nd semester Prerequisite: teacher permission, councilor’s and Principal’s approval.
