Peruvian Certificate Program
Graduation Requirements
All Peruvian program students must earn the U.S. Diploma. To
be eligible for graduation from Colegio Roosevelt, grades 9-12,
a minimum of 24 classes must be earned and all courses for the
American Diploma completed ¨Board Policy D10.060. Peruvian
Program students can meet this requirement by taking one additional
English elective (1/2 credit) during their senior year. Change
of Program - Students from other schools and from the U.S. Program
who wish to enroll in the Peruvian Program may revalidate their
previous course work with the Peruvian Director. Program changes
will only be made with approval of the High School Principal,
Peruvian Director, and counselor. Changes from the U.S. Program
to the Peruvian Program may not be made after 9th grade, though
changes to the U.S. Program may be made at any time.
Course Requirements
To earn the Peruvian Certificate, students must successfully
meet the requirements of Colegio Roosevelt and the Peruvian Ministry
of Education. Courses are distributed throughout the grade levels
in the following sequence:

Student must pass IB English(one semester)
if planning to leave in December and earn the School Peruvian
Certificate and graduate from Colegio Roosevelt.
Re-examinations
Re-exams will be offered in the months of August, November, and
March for students who have failed one to a maximum of three courses.
Students failing four or more Peruvian program courses (determined
by averaging both semesters' grades) must repeat the school year.
Re-exams will be conducted in accordance with the regulations
described below:
- Students failing two or more re-exams after the first testing
period in August, must repeat the previous school year.
- Students failing only one re-exam after the first testing period
in August, may continue to retake the re-exam at three-month intervals.
- Seniors in the Peruvian program failing one to three courses
may take re-exams in January in order to facilitate application
to Peruvian universities and institutes. If unsuccessful, the
student may continue to take re-exams at one month intervals.
- Only successful completion of re-exams offered at Colegio Roosevelt
will entitle a student to participate in the graduation ceremony
and to receive the Roosevelt diploma.
Students are responsible for re-exam preparation. They are strongly
advised to consult with their teachers before re-exams for assistance
in preparing for the exams. Tutoring assistance is also recommended,
and the Guidance Office can provide a list of available tutors.
Department Policies for Peruvian Program
MATHEMATICS
Students must have 3 credits of math in the High School and must
successfully complete Algebra II/Trigonometry. The Algebra II/Trigonometry
requirement may also be met by completing Algebra II and a separate
one semester Trigonometry class.
SOCIAL STUDIES
The study of Global Issues is required for Peruvian program
students. If a student fails, re-exams must be passed in order
to receive the Roosevelt diploma and to participate in the graduation
ceremony.
SPANISH
Students must complete at least three years of Spanish in the
High School. This is usually three courses of Literature. If a
student takes Communication in 9th grade he/she must complete
2.5 years of Literature - up to and including first semester of
Hispanoamerican Literature.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
All Peruvian Program students must take 3 credits of Physical
Education.
FINE ARTS
One credit of Fine Arts will be required of all students.
PGC
All freshmen will take part in Peer Group Connections classes
once per week. PGC is an elective class for seniors.
