| The
Group 4 project of the IB Curriculum requires that all studentsparticipate
in a "collaborative experience where concepts and perceptions
from across the group 4 disciplines are shared." Its
goal is to allow "students to appreciate the environmental,
social and ethical implications of science and to understand
the limitations of scientific study." The Group 4 Project
is to be an interdisciplinary cooperation involved in the
scientific process.
Again this year, the science department went to the deepest
depths of the Amazon jungle to complete these tasks. The
group spent one night at Posada Amazonas, just two hours
upstream from Puerto Maldanado the Tambopata River and then
transferred to the Tambopata Research Center for four days.
Each day in the forest, students worked
with different field scientists collecting and observing
specimens and completing hand-on experiences that could
not be reproduced in the classroom.
