HS SPANISH PLAY - LA CASA DE BERNARDA ALBA
The High School Spanish Drama club invites you to attend "La casa de Bernarda Alba" (The House of Bernarda Alba)by Federico García Lorca, and directed by Roosevelt Alum '03 Adrián Galarcep, on June 5th and 6th at 8:00 pm, Center Stage. This is also a commemorative production for the Tenth Anniversary of Colegio Roosevelt's Spanish Drama Club.
Synopsis: Nine women under the same roof. An authoritarian mother, five daughters who live without the possibility of even feeling the outside world, two maids and a senil old woman, the only one who does not live under the authoritarism of Bernarda because "being crazy is the only way of being free in this house".
In "La Casa de Bernarda Alba", the oppression and rigidity opens to the desperation that holds the solitude and enables de tragedy. This tragedy shows the most intimate secrets of power and the desire of rebellion and liberty. This piece was finished by García Lorca in 1936, exactly two months before he was assassined by Nationalist partisans at the age of 38 at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. Hope to see you there!

HELP REDUCE CAR POLLUTION
We are Fifth Graders and we are working on a project about global warming. There are several causes of global warming but the one we chose is car pollution. The exhaust that the cars produce contains carbon monoxide which gets into the atmosphere and traps the heat. So the temperature is rising all over the world, the ice on the Poles
melt and the sea level rises. Each gallon of gasoline produces about 23 pounds of carbon monoxide. There are several ways you can help to stop car pollution here are some ways:
-go with more people in your car
-walk if you are close to your destination
-ride your bike if you do not live so close
-inflate your tires well
-use public transportation
-use msn or e-mail instead of actually going there
-tell other people what you have learned about car pollution and these tips. Thank You!
