WE WISH ALL ROOSEVELT FAMILIES A RESTFUL JULY VACATION!
We look forward to seeing you when classes resume
on Friday, August 1, 2008
- ROOSEVELT READS! IS THE NEW THEMATIC YEAR FOR 2008-09
To kickstart the "Roosevelt Reads!" thematic year, and to build new connections in the community through the shared experience of reading, our Thematic Year Committee is asking all members of our school community to read the same book: The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. We have chosen The City of Ember based on its availability in English and Spanish and, its accessibility and appeal for our whole community. We hope all members of our faculty and staff, our students and our parents will read this wonderful novel during the first semester.
Towards the end of the first semester, we will host a series of events and book-talk gatherings at school about The City of Ember. If you are traveling to the U.S. in July, make sure to pick a copy for your family to read and share!
