It is advisable to use the school as your new mailing address. Mail will be delivered to you immediately upon arrival. All teachers will have an individual mailbox assigned to them within their school where they will receive interoffice mail and outside mail as well. Mail service from USA or Canada currently takes about one week to arrive, and a week for it to be delivered in the USA or Canada.

It would be best to advise your acquaintances not to mail gifts to Lima. Arrival of gifts through the mail is unreliable and customs charges may be exorbitant. The exception to this would be a small parcel such as a paperback books, single cassettes, a CD or VCR tape. Small brown envelopes often make it through, but not always. Regular mail to Lima should not be marked in any special way, just AIRMAIL.
