Overseas Faculty Manual - Media CenterAlthough it may be expensive and difficult to find English language books in Peru, the Media Center has an excellent library for both professional and recreational reading. The collection is extensive with over 45,000 books, magazines, and books on cassette. The Media Center subscribes to over 150 periodicals, including local and some US newspapers. Titles range from news magazines (Time, Newsweek and World Press Review) to teenage magazines (Self and Seventeen) to popular magazines (People, Vogue, Sports Illustrated and Parents) in addition to several online subscriptions. You may check the Library Media Center web page – http://www.amersol.edu.pe/mc/index.asp The AV department of the Library Media Center has a wide range of videos which may be checked out over the weekend. The children’s collection is particularly strong. It is also possible to rent from local video stores such as Blockbuster. A faculty Book Club is open to those interested in discussing books. Usually three books are read during each semester. It is a good opportunity for faculty to get together socially and discuss books that they might not otherwise read.
