FD Roosevelt School

Letter from the Superintendent

Dear New Overseas Faculty Members:

Congratulations on your decision to join the Colegio Roosevelt community  You are joining a team of outstanding educators and a tremendously supportive community who all share a genuine commitment to educational excellence.  It’s important to all of us that we make every effort to make your transition to Peru and Colegio Roosevelt smooth and easy.

Our overseas faculty have shared with us the importance of the Overseas Manual as a resource for preparing for their move to Peru.  Each year we refine and modify the manual based on the feedback of our newest teachers in order to keep the information relevant and up to date.  To help with your move to Lima, our staff has put together this manual, in hopes that it will answer your questions about moving to Lima. Although this manual is very comprehensive, you may still have questions about your move. Please feel free to contact any of us to answer additional questions you may have. I would also suggest that you take a look at the link to our strategic plan on our web page, as it will give you good insights into the incredible work that has been done in the last few years in strategic planning, work that will soon become yours as well.

To further assist you with your move and settling in, you will be assigned a Settling-In Buddy, usually an Overseas Hire, whose job it will be to assist you with settling into your new home, and to help answer the countless questions you are bound to have in the next several months. Your Settling-In Buddy or Buddies will recall the joys and frustrations of the moving-in process here in Lima, and will be able to help streamline the process for you. In most cases they will be pretty fluent in Spanish, which in itself will be a big help. You will also be assigned an “On-Campus Mentor”, who will help you transition to your new Roosevelt position.

Again, welcome to Roosevelt and be assured that we are here to do whatever we can to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Sincerely,

Russell D. Jones
Superintendent
