The refrigerator will be stocked with a few items to get you started.

Remember that you will be starting a new house practically from scratch.

Items not included are TV’s, vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, stereos, lamps, pictures for the walls, throw rugs and decoration items. Because the landlord sometimes furnishes housing, there will be differences from place to place. If you have any questions, contact the Housing & Relocation Assistant at gceli@amersol.edu.pe

You will receive an inventory list of the furniture and electrical appliances included at your house, indicating the condition of each item. Teachers will assume responsibility for all the items included in the inventory (a copy will be given to you for your records). An inspection of the premises, furniture and furnishings will be performed before the end of the teacher's rental contract and any damages beyond normal wear and tear or loss will be charged to the teacher.

Inventories may also be conducted before home leave, or annually, for administrative purposes. We will make an appointment with the teacher to visit the residence. The teacher should be present while the inventory is being conducted in case of any questions. Due to the need to maintain careful inventory of stock, under NO circumstances furnishings are to be exchanged between teachers.

Reupholstering

Well-used furniture may be reupholstered at the beginning of a housing contract if the condition of the furniture requires it. All other reupholstering will be at the expense of the teacher.

Painting

The quality and durability of paint available in Lima is not as high as in the US, and it does not wash as well. The interior and even the exterior may need to be repainted before moving out from the house or apartment. In Peru, not the landlord but the renter is responsible for these charges.
