PD - Individual Development

Individual Development

FDR supports individual professional development, which enhances the individual capacity of members of the FDR faculty and staff, and is not part of the organizational plan. Funds for individual development are set aside during the budgeting process annually for the Professional Development Committee to allocate during the school year. Allocations are based on applications, are scored against criteria, and based on funding guidelines (in process). The PD Committee and Curriculum Office are responsible for the PD Individual Planning budget.

FDR has supported presenters to the South American School’s Conferences (AASSA), Teachers Teaching Teachers (TTT) in Lima and departmental representatives to subject specific international conferences. In order for individual faculty members to accumulate continuing credits for FDR and certification requirements, Master’s level courses and a Master’s in Education are also supported.

Criteria for Individual Development

  • Improve student learning?
  • Improve teacher, administrator or other staff effectiveness using the best research and educational practices?
  • Promote transformational opportunities such as continuous inquiry, collaboration and reflection?
  • Allocate resources effectively, efficiently and equitably?
  • Can the experience be shared with other members of the individual’s team, department, school or office?
  • What are the desired outcomes? How will the experience be evaluated?
