The FDR Technology Department encourages you to use our computing resources for your academic activities at Colegio F. D. Roosevelt. We want to make you aware that all your activities are being monitored and recorded, so proper technology etiquette is in your best interest. Happy Computing!

1. I will use the computers and internet for schoolwork and learning activities only.

2. When using the computers, I will:

• use good manners
• use appropriate language
• not be hurtful to others

3. I will treat all technology equipment with care. That includes hardware (mouse, keyboard, monitor, CPU), software and network.

4. If I don’t know how to use any part of the computer equipment, I will ask for help.

5. I will keep my password private (even from my best friends) and I will respect other people’s passwords. I realize that I am required to share my password with my teachers.

6. I understand that e-mail messages are like postcards and that my work on the computer is not private. I will check my mail regularly.

7. I will not login as a classmate. I will not open, delete, move or modify other people’s files without their permission.

8. I will only use the Internet for appropriate learning activities:

a. I understand that I am not allowed to search the Internet without the knowledge of my teachers
b. I will not stream video, download files, play games, listen to music, chat, etc.
c. I will only view, send or display appropriate messages or pictures
d. I will talk to my teachers or parents if I feel uncomfortable with information I find in the computer
e. I will not share personal information about myself or anyone else on the Internet. This includes last name, address, phone number, photograph, family information, etc.

9. I will print only when I have permission to do so.

10. I will cite the source of the images or text I use in my projects and will respect copyright laws.

11. I will teach my parents how to have fun and learn things on the computers and internet.
