There will not be a limit on purchases after this date.  For your convenience, VISA® will also be accepted.  *On Wednesday, don’t forget to stop by the Elementary Bake Sale between 12:00 and 3:00!

ES BAKE SALE

The PTA is currently soliciting donations of sweet and/or savory items for the annual Elementary School Bake Sale to be held on Wednesday, September 16th, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. on the Green by the turtle pond. All proceeds from this event go towards the annual Christmas party for the children of Colegio Roosevelt facilities and maintenance staff. If you'd like to donate an item, please email us at pta@amersol.edu.pe

IOWA TESTS OF BASIC SKILLS

All students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will be taking the IOWA TESTS OF BASIC SKILLS (ITBS) – Form A during the week of Parent/Teacher Conferences Sept. 28 – Oct. 2. These tests measure academic achievement and help us assess our school’s programs as well as obtain more information about our students in order to meet their individual needs.

The completed tests will be sent to the U.S.A. for scoring. Test results will be made available to you when they arrive next semester. If a child is absent one or more days, he or she will not be making up for the tests, therefore the reports will be incomplete.

Given the importance of these achievement tests we encourage you to make sure that your child gets an appropriate amount of sleep and eats a good breakfast. We hope children come to school well rested, confident, and ready to do a good job. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Principal or Counselor.

MATH WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS
If you missed the first Everyday Math Workshop for Parents (for G1 - G5) you have been invited to attend a Make-up Session on Wednesday, September 16 to learn more about the Elementary School's new Math program - Everyday Math. Hope to see you there!

WORKSHOP FOR INSTRUCTIONAL AND GENERAL PARENT HELPERS
If you missed the first Workshop for Parent Helpers (EC3 - G5), you have been invited to attend a Make-up Session on Thursday, September 17 to find out about the expectations FDR has for all Parent Helpers and to receive training in the areas you be asked to provide support in.

FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS VISITED THE CONGRESS
On Friday, August 28; the entire fifth grade class went on a field trip to the Congress. Students were able to tour the building and learned about the purpose of Congress and how it has undergone changes over time. Students are learning about how governments evolve through events and individual actions.

PARENT HELPERS

If you are fluent in English and you want to come to read aloud early in the morning to your child’s class, you don’t need to come to the Parent Helper Training. Just contact your child’s teacher and schedule a time for you to come and read.

DISMISSAL TIME

Parents, please be reminded that at the end of the day you have to wait for your children in the car pick-up area, in the Alameda or in front of the ES Office and not outside their classrooms. There is a lot of noise in the corridors and this is very disruptive for students and teachers. Thanks for your understanding.

YELLOW VESTS

Our teacher assistants are wearing bright yellow vests while they’re on duty on the Alameda, playgrounds, and at the bus and car pick-up areas.  They are there to ensure our children’s safety and help parents in any way they can.  We hope that the yellow vests make our teacher assistants who are on duty much easier to identify.

NO WHEELS ON CAMPUS:

Parents, please be reminded that students may not use roller skates, bicycles, roller shoes, or skate boards on campus at any time (including weekends), even if their parents are with them.  Your children’s safety is our first priority, and our campus is unsafe for students “on wheels”.  Thank you for your cooperation.

GREEN TIP OF THIS MONTH: USE FEWER PAPER TOWELS AND NAPKINS
