LIBRARY NEWS:

April 22 and 23 is the Book Swap on the lawn in front of the library.
We've already collected well over 1,000 books! Make plans to come and
get books for you and your family. Books will be available to
exchange for your tickets or to purchase for 2 soles each.

And we are still accepting books for the swap. Every three books gives you
one ticket for the swap. You have one more week to clean off your
bookshelves.

The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, April 22, 7:45-10:10 Students with tickets only.
Tuesday, April 22, 10:10-4:00 Everybody is welcome to exchange tickets
for books or to purchase books for 2 soles each.
Wednesday, April 23, 7:45-1:00 Book Swap continues.

We are looking for parent volunteers to help with the Book Swap.
Contact Linda Hoiseth in the library (lhoiseth@amersol.edu.pe) if you
are willing to donate some time.

SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING:  NASA Astronaut visit

On Wednesday April 10, Dr. Nicholas Patrick, a NASA astronaut who was launched into space on December 2006, came to our school to talk about space and his experiences as an astronaut. He gave three different presentations for Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. Students were able to see pictures and a video of Dr. Patrick in space. He explained how astronauts are trained underwater, and how they eat, sleep and even exercise while in space.
Dr. Patrick is married to Rossana Palomino who is a Roosevelt graduate, class of ‘86.
