Elementary School Parent Bulletin – March 31, 2008IMPORTANT DATES:
OUR NEW PARENTS: It was great to see so many of our new parents last Wednesday in the Little Theater at the PTA Welcome Meeting. Please call the PTA office or the ES office with any questions or concerns you may have. We want your transition to Roosevelt to be a smooth one! NASA ASTRONAUT VISIT: We’re excited to welcome NASA Astronaut, Nicolas Patrick, to our school! He will be giving a presentation to our third, fourth, and fifth graders on Wednesday, April 9. FIFTH GRADERS PREPARING THEIR PYP EXHIBITIONS: All of our fifth graders are now working in small groups with their mentors to prepare their PYP Exhibitions. For these projects our students “think globally and act locally” as they plan and investigate positive ways they can impact our environment. DELIVERING ITEMS TO YOUR CHILDREN: Please help your child develop responsibility by planning ahead and bringing everything that’s needed to school in the morning. If there is something that you need to deliver to your child, please be advised that items will be collected from the front gate and brought to the ES office at the following times: 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., & 1:00 p.m. PARENTS, PLEASE REMIND STUDENTS TO: • wear tennis shoes that are ALL black or ALL white to school. Students who repeatedly fail to wear the regulation uniform should be sent to the office to wait for parents to bring the correct item. • stay seated on the bus with seatbelt fastened until the bus comes to a complete stop. SPOTLIGHT ON LEARNING: Third graders are having fun learning about beats and rhythm with percussion instruments such as cajones, drums, guiros, triangles, and wooden blocks.
