NEWCOMERS MEETING:

A welcome meeting for new FDR parents will be held on Wednesday, March 26, at 11:15 in the Little Theater.  New parents are welcome to come and meet other Roosevelt families, the Administration, Board Members, and your Grade Representatives who would like to welcome you to Lima and give you some important information.  Please note at this event will replace the PTA Welcome Brunch scheduled for March 19, as printed in the monthly FDR School Calendar.

It’s wonderful to see our students so enthusiastic about using the library media center that they choose to go there after their dismissal at 2:20!  The library is open for elementary students from 2:20 to 3:20 daily except Wednesday afternoons.

We ask that parents and students adhere to the following guidelines for using the library after school:

• We welcome students who have a valid pass and are not committed to an After School Activity at that time.

• Students who would like to go to the library from 2:20 to 3:20 must bring a note from their parents giving them permission to be in the library after school.  Parents can give permission for one day, or, for example, all Thursdays.  Students should take their notes to Ms. Marisa in the office, and she will give them the After School Library Pass.  Ms. Hoiseth will ask all students for their passes when they come to the library.

• After 3:20 only students with adult supervision (a parent or tutor) may stay in the library.  All other students must go home at that time.

*Only students and parents are library patrons.  Drivers and nannies may not check out books.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER:

The second Monday of each month, our counselors will highlight a particular issue or topic of interest.  This month’s focus is Moving.  Welcome to Peru and FDR! Moving and relocating is a part of life for many of our families. It can be exciting and fun, but stressful and even scary at the same time. It is important to keep in mind that the initial phase in your new home can be challenging, but look for help and resources to make the transition easier for you and your family. Take the time to talk about your feelings about being away from your home, and encourage your family to do the same. Below you will find a list of books to read and links to visit.

Books:

“Moving with Kids” by Lori Collins Burgan

“The Moving Book: A Kid's Survival Guide” by Gabriel Davis

“Saying Good-Bye, Saying Hello...: When Your Family Is Moving” by     Michaelene Mundy

PHOTOS:

Our pictures this week highlight the fun our kindergarten classes had on Monday, March 3, which was the hundredth day of school!  Students made charts and graphs, decorated hats, brought in bags of 100 things, and even posed in a picture of 100 people!  It’s been an eventful week of learning all about the very special number, 100.
