to give them a little snack. We will be sending home a monthly
Snack Calendar asking for a specific item.
LUNCH: Your child will bring a lunch box to school daily.
It is extremely important that your child acquires healthy habits
when he/she is young. We strongly recommend you send nutritious
food like: milk, juice, a sandwich, fruit, yogurt, raisins, peanuts,
homemade cookies, etc. Please do not send: bottled soda drinks,
cheese curls or puffs, potato chips, chocolate, or candy of any
kind.

keep the calendar in a visible spot so that you can refer to it
regularly.
PLASTIC ENVELOPES: We will be sending home daily a large
plastic envelope with important information. Please see that your
child brings it to school everyday.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS: We encourage parents to come to your
child’s class as a volunteer. This may be include working
with small groups doing a specific activity or doing clerical
work. The crucial hours are from about 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. (it
may vary in each class). We ask that you turn off your cellular
phone while working in the class, children deserve all your attention
and can get distracted if you are busy on the phone. Please sign
up in your child’s classroom.
BIRTHDAYS: You can choose to celebrate your child’s
birthday in class. Let us know in advance so that we can plan
accordingly and include it in the monthly calendar. We celebrate
parties so that they are fun, simple and very meaningful to the
child.
HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS: We will be celebrating Halloween, Christmas,
Easter and the End of the Year with class parties. You will be
asked to sponsor one of these events. We count on your cooperation
to help organize and provide food and treats for them.
FIELD TRIPS: Children learn a lot in every outing. We plan
to program an educational field trip whenever possible to tie
in with the unit in study. We encourage you to join us.

We will use it for emergencies. You are to call only the family
that is listed under your name. If you cannot contact them, leave
the message and call the family below.
ABSENCES: Please send a note whenever your child is absent.
If any medicine needs to be administered during school hours,
a written message noting the dose and time should be sent.
HOMEWORK: Regularly, we will be sending homework. (reading,
activity backpacks, book/cassettes, beginning sound booklets,
math, special projects, etc.). Please provide a special, quiet
place where your child can work at home.
BACKPACKS: Your child should bring a backpack to school
everyday. Large enough for the daily plastic envelope and library
books.
REPORT CARDS: These will be handed out at the end of each

in October and in May to inform you of your child’s progress.

than happy to help you or to explain the rationale behind our
decisions.
Changes at home may affect your child, so please let us know if
changes are occurring like a parent traveling, a death of a relative
or a pet, an accident, a family crisis, an illness, etc.
AFTER SHCOOL ACTIVITIES: If your child will be attending an
after school acitivity he/she needs to go home at 1:00 p.m. to
