Central Idea:

We need skills, knowledge, and personal qualities that enable us to work and participate in society.

An Inquiry Into:

  • The jobs people do to contribute to the functioning of society
  • Specific skills and knowledge that are needed to do most jobs
  • Personal qualities that society values
  • There are a variety of choices and circumstances that lead people toward certain work experiences
