Language Arts

*Our scholastic series book this month is called Supersolvers.

*They will also read a variety of stories in small groups. Ask your child what he/she is reading in class.

*Vocabulary and spelling tests are on Fridays.

*Please supervise that your child reads at home every day.

Math

*We are working on a Math Investigations unit called "Does it Walk, Crawl or Swim ". Students will practice different ways to sort and organize data. They will also learn to make graphic representations of their findings.

Students will continue practicing how to solve simple story problems requiring addition and subtraction to solve.

We continue to review additional grade 2 math skills (place value, measurement, skip counting, etc.) through Mountain Math.

PYP

*We are working on a PYP unit called "From Farm to Table ."

* Students will predict and explore the many ways in which food needs to be transported and or processed before it reaches our tables.

* Students will partcipate on various workshops at Universidad Agraria, and they will conduct research in books ant the Internet to find out the various steps followed in processing farm products.

* Students will discuss how transportation and packaging varies depending on the type of food and where it needs to be taken.

* Students will also discuss the responsibility each person has on following their part of the process.

 

Other

*We continue with our community service project. Please bring empty plastic bottles (clear and green) and place them in the bins in the Alameda. These will be turned into blankets that will be donated to people in need.
