| Communication |
The primary medium of communication in the elementary school is email. Parents are
asked to look in their email in-box each day. Administration will rarely send letters with
the students as it wishes to respect the environment and save paper. We don’t want
anyone to miss out on the exciting activities taking place at Roosevelt!
Teachers may send home written notices with students in their Student Planners as an
additional form of communication. Parents are welcome to write a note back to the
teacher in these planners. |
Elementary Echo
This is a monthly parent newsletter that is sent by the principal. This newsletter is only
sent electronically and usually arrives in the first week of a new month. |
| Weekly Parent Bulletin |
The elementary school publishes a weekly bulletin for parents which includes a calendar
of coming events, general elementary news, information, and pictures highlighting the
week. The bulletin is sent out to families by e-mail every Monday as part of the Monday
Messenger, and it is also available on our website. |
| Student-Parent Handbook |
| The Student-Parent Handbook is on our website http://www.amersol.edu.pe. Please check it periodically for updates. |
| Parent Orientations |
| All parents of students in EC3-grade 5 are invited to Parent Orientations held during the first weeks of school in August. At the orientations teachers provide information about the goals and objectives of all academic and special programs, and discuss classroom expectations for students in their classes. |
Telephone Tree
|
| At the beginning of the school year each teacher develops a class list with the names, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of parents in the class. Parents are asked to keep this “telephone tree” in a convenient location at home. The telephone tree with e-mail addresses is useful for coordinating class activities (such as parties and field trips), communicating with parents, or in case of an emergency. |
| Parent Advisory Group (PAG) |
| Two PAG’s exist in ES: one for EC3-K parents and the other for Grades 1-5 parents. They are made up of the PTA coordinators for elementary school and two parent representatives from each of the eight elementary school grades levels. EC and ES Parent Advisory Groups meet monthly to promote communication among the adult members of the Roosevelt family for the benefit of our children. The Parent Advisory Groups report their discussions to other parents at PTA meetings or grade level coffees. |
| Visitors |
Parents are encouraged to visit our school. However, we ask that parents make arrangements with the office or teacher in advance of classroom visitations in order not to interrupt the instructional program. When parents are in the classroom, we ask that they turn off their cellular telephones.
Students are not allowed to bring guests to school duing the school day. However, after first receiving permission through the elementary office, visitors may come to campus during the student's recess break. |
