Student - Parent Handbook 2007-2008

Birthdays

If parents want to distribute party invitations anywhere on campus, ALL students in a class (or all boys or all girls) must be invited.  If anyone is excluded in a class, the invitations may not be sent home through the school or on a school bus.  ALSO, IF PARENTS WANT TO DISTRIBUTE INVITATIONS AT SCHOOL TO STUDENTS FROM MORE THAN ONE CLASS AT THE SAME GRADE LEVEL, ALL STUDENTS AT THAT GRADE LEVEL MUST BE INVITED.  OTHERWISE, INVITATIONS MAY NOT BE DISTRIBUTED AT SCHOOL OR ON A SCHOOL BUS

Birthdays and “un-birthdays” of students in the early childhood and kindergarten programs may be celebrated at school. Parents may provide a birthday cake, sandwiches, and beverages. However, they are asked to keep the party simple. We do not encourage students to bring gifts, but if they wish to do so, the gifts shouldn't be expensive.

In grades 1-5, students’ birthday parties are not held at school. Parents may, nonetheless, bring or send cupcakes or cake to school to share with classmates during lunch or recess, but the celebration should not interfere with class instruction time. We ask that parents not send invitations for an in-school celebration, and students are requested not to bring birthday gifts for other students in the class.

We strive to create an environment where ALL children feel valued and part of the Roosevelt family.  We ask for your cooperation by following our Birthday Policy and not distributing invitations anywhere on campus if there isn't one for every child in the class (or all boys or all girls).
