- The Fabulous Five: Our senses: Tasting, feeling, smelling, seeing and hearing Ð these are our fabulous five senses. How do we taste an apple or feel the soft fur of a kitten? How is it that we can smell a pie baking? Why can we see the sun setting, or hear the pounding of waves against the beach? Throughout this video, examples illustrate each of the five senses. The children will be able to understand that their senses enable them to collect information about the varied sights, sounds, smells, textures and tastes that form their environment.
- The Magic School Bus makes a stink : Flora Whiff (Bebe Neuwirth), the famous expert on smell — whose “nose knows” — comes to school to judge the First Annual Smell Search. Ms. Frizzle’s class creates a unique smell that is bound to take first prize.
- Learning about sorting and grouping : Explore the concepts of alike and different to help students understand sorting and classifying objects. They begin by using their five senses, sorting objects by texture, shape, size, color, and mass. Then they explore different types of sorting: producers and consumers, money from different countries, animals and plants, geometric figures, and letters and words.
