  • The importance of plants. (13:00) Students see and learn how plants are the basis of food chains and how they are capable of making their own food. Shows different species of plants and identifies how different plants are used for food, oxygen, clothing, and building materials
  • Peep and the big wide world: Peep plants a seed/ The root problem (22:02) Peep Plants a Seed Peep discovers a patch of sunflowers and decides to grow one for himself. What do seeds need in order to sprout? The kids place seeds and beans on 2 trays with moist paper towels and set them by the window. One is covered so it gets no light. How do the seeds look a week later? "Try growing things from seeds, beans and peas." The Root Problem There’s a snake in Quack’s pond! (Fish are one thing, but a snake is completely unacceptable.) A worm. An old piece of sidewalk. A strangely colored rock. Where did the kids find these things? By digging holes you never know what you might find. "See what you can find when you dig some holes
  • Plant parts and their uses (12:00) Roots, stems, leaves, fruit, and seeds—plants have all the parts they need! Learn about each part of a plant and its purpose. Animations help students visualize important concepts like photosynthesis and water moving into roots and stems. On-screen children ask important questions, correct common misconceptions, and identify the parts of plants that we eat
  • Plants: A first look (17:00) Green plants are introduced to primary grades. Children will learn about different kinds of plants and how they need light, air, and water to survive. The different parts of a plant, including leaves, stems, roots, and seeds are also identified. The last segment of the program describes how plants are useful to people.
  • Plant lifecycles (20:00) With the help of a friendly scarecrow, students identify the basic needs of plants. They learn how seeds grow into plants and that the plant goes through changes called a lifecycle. They witness each step as seeds germinate and grow into flowering plants which produce seeds .
  • Peep and the big wide world: spring thing/ Springy thingy (22:01) Spring Thing It’s winter, it’s blah, and everything looks dead. Can Peep, Quack, and Chirp survive until spring? When do plants start growing? The kids find buds, sprouts and little flowers starting to grow on the first day of Spring. "Try looking closely for things that are growing." Springy Thingy Peep discovers his inner bounce when he encounters a frog, a mattress, and a jack-in-the-box. What can you make out of junk? The kids recycle trash to create contraptions, guitars and boats. "Try making
  • Play and discover with Digger and Splat: Green and growing (17:37) Splat needs to find out as much as he can about plants - as soon as possible. Didi knows a lot about plants - she can get her seeds to sprout, and she knows just where to plant her sunflowers. The monster gang boards the magic toy box to see plants around the world. Viewers learn just what plants need to stay green and growing.
